UPDATE!
We reached our Kickstarter goal and WHY should you still pledge?
Our original goal was actually $5,000, but given our time constraints we decided to mark our kickstarter goal at $2500. Please keep pledging! We have 4 days left and with your support we can submit this incredibly important film to EVERY FESTIVAL OUT THERE!!! This way you can see THE MAIDEN AND THE PRINCESS on a screen near you! Keep pledging and believing in this project so I can come visit you in your town with the film and thank you personally!!!
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Maiden and The Princess is a short, USC thesis film starring David Anders of "Vampire Diaries" and "Heroes," as well as Julian Sands of "Room With a View."
This film is a fairy tale about a little girl who needs to learn to love herself. It's for every little girl and boy out there that feels different without understanding why. I’m making this film because growing up there were no books or films about people like me. There was a Disney princess for every color of hair and every country, but no princess ever had a girlfriend.
As a kid I was afraid that by talking about my feelings, I would lose the people in my life I loved the most. I’m making The Maiden and the Princess so no kid ever has to feel that way. We as a society need to encourage individuality in children, even if it means exposing them to things we are afraid of.
Please help me to finish funding this fairytale so I can get it out there for the world to see! Lets send a message to parents and people everywhere that no child should ever have to apologize for being different!
We have the film shot and ready to go, we just need money to get it to the festivals. This amazing film is just waiting to be sent out to the world!

There are so many things we still need to do before this film can get out there into the world. Here is a list of the items your donations will help to pay for!!!!!
Festival submission costs- up to 50 dollars a pop. Eek! This is our biggest cost as we want to submit EVERYWHERE and bring this film to your town so you and your family can come see it!!!
HDCam Tapes and Digibeta tapes- 15-50 dollars each. Then to actually burn the film onto them is a dollar a minute.
The DVD reproductions- up to 1500 dollars. We've gotten our dvd sleeves donated by the AMAZING and TALENTED Casey Armstrong. One of our donors actually!!! But the reproduction of the dvds is still quite costly.
Believe it or not, the actual postal costs of mailing the dvd screeners and then the tapes and publicity materials if you get in has already added up to almost 500 bucks... and we're just at the very beginning.
Then there is the insane cost of travel to festivals. We recognize that we won't be able to go to all the festivals, but would love to be able to attend the important ones!!!
2500 is our low end goal, but if we are able to raise more, that would be incredible! We truly believe we have an amazing and important film on our hands, and any help you might be able to give would be so greatly appreciated!
