Family, Friends, and Fans: You are "the 3 F's," the audience that every musician can count on.  Getting one's work heard by anybody outside that circle is difficult!  It really doesn't happen these days without quality media to sell or share.

A few years ago I began working hard on my performance skills--I'm not exactly a "natural"--learning guitar techniques I'd never bothered with, getting a few voice lessons, practicing a lot.  I also began writing on a more regular basis, and growing beyond but also developing further the material I'd created in spurts, in the early 80's, around 1990, and in 1996.  I was woodshedding on all this stuff without thinking what was the point, except for rekindling the longstanding nagging feeling that it made no sense to write these songs---you who know me understand that's where my gift really lies--to write songs which almost no one would ever hear.

Suddenly last fall, I was invited to perform at some private gatherings.  Then I got plugged into some local coffee shop venues, where my work was received with delight and surprise by friends who'd known me for years, but never knew about the music.  More gigs have followed, and people have continued to respond.  I trust their response more than my own, to tell you the truth.

These people have encouraged me to record.  Some of them are themselves musicians, who are ready to perform with me.  I'd thought of doing this this summer or fall, but when an invitation came to play at a festival which may draw 500 people or more, I decided it was time to move.  I've talked with several local studios and musicians.  The plan is taking shape.

Money will be needed for studio time, post-production, CD production, cover design and production, musicians.  We'll record basic tracks "live" in the studio, add some overdubs.  Estimate for the whole first CD's studio time is $2500-3000.  Musicians may require another $1000 or more.  I haven't priced everything out yet, but I can see this topping $5000 easily.  Yes, I'll be putting my own money in.  And if I get more than the total needed from you my friends, any extra will go immediately into the next CD.
