Hi, my name is Brahm Revel. I write and draw GUERILLAS, a graphic novel published by Oni Press. I'm raising money to complete the second volume in the series.

While my publisher provides a modest advance, the majority of my pay on the book comes after the book is published. To pay day-to-day living expenses until then, I have to keep a day job as a freelance illustrator and work on the book in my spare time. If I can raise the money to pay those expenses outright, I will be able to focus all of my attention on the book instead of having to take any new illustration jobs.


This book is my passion project. I've been working on GUERILLAS since 2007 when the series was originally published as individual issues by Image comics. In 2010 I moved the series over to Oni Press and collected the previously printed issues as the first volume in a series of three graphic novels. Oni Press is a great publisher and I couldn't be happier with their help and guidance. Unfortunately, this is a creator owned book and as a result, a truly independent venture. That's where Kickstarter comes in. This is a wonderful crowd funding platform which allows me to offer you unique rewards, such as sketches and original pages, and in return, you are able to help support an independent artist finish the next chapter of his vision.

For those not familiar with GUERILLAS, it takes place during the Vietnam Conflict and follows an overwhelmed new recruit who accidentally falls in with a platoon of specially trained chimpanzees. Lost in the jungle and with no options but to follow the troop of apes, the new recruit soon begins to question if these chimps are really a stable fighting unit or a volatile pack of animals. GUERILLAS looks at the nature of war, the nature of man, and all the gray areas in between. It's also an action-packed thrill-ride, full of jungle warfare and simian acrobatics.
