As promised in our last update, we wanted to share a couple photos to better explain how GripRings are made...
The silicone rings are made with a compression tool. Below you can see both sides of our 36 cavity tool. The core and cavity side come together after being packed with silicone. This assembly is then heated to rapidly cure the silicone. After the curing process, the tool is opened to reveal 36 individual GripRings.
Unfortunately we don't have any images of the end plug tools, but the plastic and rubber end plug parts are made in a similar way. The plastic end plug cap is actually made with an injection molding tool, which works by injecting hot plastic that then cools inside the tool cavities. Below you can check out our polypropylene injection molded end plug caps.
The end plug screw and nut are made on coolant bathed screw machines. Raw steel stock is fed into one side of the machine as a series of operations are preformed to cut the steel into final shape, threads and all. Check out the video...
After machining, the metal parts are sent off to a plating factory where a black oxide coating is applied.
And finally we have the packaging card and Spurcycle sticker. These are made with your standard 4 color printing press and die cutting machines.
