The Garbage-Men have been invited to play in Times Square and are working to raise the funding for airfare from Sarasota, FL.

The Garbage-Men Head To NYC

The Garbage-Men: We are a family friendly band of 10th graders from Sarasota, FL. We promote recycling by playing music on instruments we make ourselves out of garbage and recycled materials. To find out more about our band and our mission, visit our website:

http://thegarbagemen.com/aboutus.html

We have been invited to play in Times Square this summer and are making preparations to head up in mid July. In addition to the gig in Times Square, we will be performing and educating at The New York Hall of Science, The Brooklyn Children's Museum, Fort Tryon Park, along with many other community events. As the hardest working band in Sarasota, FL we have been saving our tips and gig money to make this trip happen but are in need of some additional funding aid.

Chromatic Percussion, Trombone, Drums, Bass, Sax, Guitar
Chromatic Percussion, Trombone, Drums, Bass, Sax, Guitar

The band is:

Ollie: Drums (made from trash can and lids, tin cans, and water jug)
Austin: Chromatic Percussion (made from glass bottles/jars and water with toothbrush mallets)
Harrison: Saxaphone and Trombone (made from PVC, corn popper toy, balloon, and funnel)
Evan: Bass (made from Lucky Charms box and yardstick)
Jack: Guitar (made from Mini Wheats box and yardstick with toothpick frets)

We want to take our show on the road to NYC to spread our musical message that not only is recycling important (and fun), the application is limitless for creative endeavors. Please help us by donating as little or as much as you are able to contribute. We thank you all for your interest and for taking the time to consider our request!

The original guitar that started it all. Made by Jack in 2010 from a Lucky Charms cereal box, a yard stick neck, toothpick frets, and a pencil tuning peg; this is the same guitar that inspired the idea for the band. Unique and hand crafted, this instrument will also be autographed by the whole band. In addition to the guitar, you will receive two song requests to be learned by the band and sent to you. Only one of this reward is available, act now!
