Update #2: Thank You

Posted on February 11

I did not believe what I saw when I checked this campaign a few minutes ago.  It honestly took me a few moments.  This campaign doubled in size today - more than.  And I am just absolutely floored.

To the amazing team at LeClair Ryan, to *everyone* who became a backer today - I don't have the words.  Thank you isn't enough.  Your generosity and kindness are unbelievable, and I am so grateful to each and every one of you.

Thank you.  From the bottom of my heart, to all of you, thank you.

-Angie

Connected as Angela Pirko (612 friends)

I'm a graduate of the UVA theatre program, and the Conservatory at Shakespeare & Company. I love working in every area of theatre, backstage and onstage, and directing is a particular favorite.

I conceived the Breaking Up With ED Project after my first NEDA walk in November 2011. I'm in recovery for an eating disorder, and that walk was the first time I publicly came out about my illness. I was amazed at all the incredible people I met at that walk, and I was really moved by two particular speakers who worked for NEDA, Robbie Munn and Kathleen MacDonald. They spoke of the difficulties NEDA has in funding and in reaching out to as many people as they need to. I found myself really wishing there was a way that I could help NEDA in my own way; having worked in theatre for so long, I started wondering if maybe there was a way to combine my particular skills with my desire to help get the word out there about eating disorders.

Thus, the Breaking Up With ED project was born. And right now I'm getting to meet some of the most amazing and strongest people I've ever known, and I can't wait to share their stories.
