Thank you to everyone who has backed this project! If you haven't, no worries! You still have time. I wanted to attach a sample from the script and let you know that on February 19th a sneak peek of The End of Days will be presented at Center Stage NY at their benefit. NINA
Why do we hang onto things?
KITT
I dunno, we just do.
NINA
I’m a different person.
He looks at her.
KITT
What do you mean?
NINA
I’m just...I’m a different person.
KITT
No you’re not, you’re just older.
NINA
Hey.
KITT
I mean, you’ve grown up. We both have. We’re adults. When we knew each other...when we used to know each other we were like young adults. Now it’s different. You’re a woman, now. Don’t say you’re a different person because you...you’re not. You’re not a different person, just older. And I like the older Nina. What? I do.
NINA
You don’t know the “older Nina”.
KITT
Oh?
NINA
You wouldn’t know her from a girl you’d pass on the street.
KITT
That a fact?
NINA
Sure is.
KITT
I find that hard to believe.
They come dangerously close. She doesn’t know if she’s going to hit him or kiss him.
NINA
You smell the same.
KITT
I do?
NINA
You sure do.
KITT
What do I smell like?
NINA
I dunno. Pine needles.
KITT
Pine needles?
NINA
Yeah. Pine needles.
KITT
I haven’t heard that before.
She shrugs.
NINA
It’s what you smell like.
KITT
Is that okay?
NINA
Course it’s okay, it’s what you smell like.
KITT
Good.
NINA
I need a drink.
She gets up.
KITT
Where are you going?
NINA
I’m going to open a bottle of wine. You still drink, right?
KITT
What do you think?
NINA
You never know these days.

Jeffrey James Keyes is a playwright and travel writer. Recent credits include: 59E59, Old Vic, EST, Write Club NYC, Fn Productions, Manhattan Rep, Unbounded Theater Company, and the 78th Street Theatre Lab. He has trained at Columbia University (MFA, Playwriting), Fordham University (BA, Performance), The British American Drama Academy, The Orvieto Institute, Primary Stages, LAByrinth Theater, SITI Company, and the Work Center of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards. His writing has been featured in Metrosource, The Advocate, The Out Traveler, and Instinct magazines. He has additionally been published in Italy From A Backpack and Stage This, Too!
