Manufacturing, promoting, and filming a music video for "Prison Boxing"!
UPDATE APRIL 25TH:
WE DID IT. A heartfelt thanks to you all, I am so thankful and lucky to have folks who support this music as generously as you have. One thing I've noticed in comparing this Kickstarter to others is a larger number of total donations. This is really neat: it means alot of folks donated what they can, rather than a few large donations to reach our goal. Very cool.
I would consider it poor form to now set a new financial goal. 5K is how much I needed to get this operation off the ground and it seems greedy to ask for more. However, the page will be up until May 10th and it's the only way to snag an advanced copy and/or the other treats I've put together. So I would like to let you know where this extra funding is going. We'll contribute any extra funds to radio promotion and, if we get enough, VINYL. I can't in good faith really "push" this page any more, but if you'd like to contribute I'd be so grateful. Thanks again to you all, I'm so lucky,
It's done! I'm so stoked to share this record with you guys. The songwriting, arrangements, and performances are, in my opinion, head and shoulders better than anything we've ever done. I matured so much making "Prison Boxing", and can't wait for you to hear it.
It was also the most expensive recording project I've ever undertaken. We're still a frugal operation but we occasionally used "recording studios" which was a new and valuable experience. It was the biggest financial investment I've ever made on the recording end: the tracking, mixing, and mastering cost a pretty penny, all of which came out of pocket. Many generous musicians and engineers donated their time but I nevertheless have slightly less than zero dollars to spend on the final stages of this project--getting the the damn thing out the door.
So, my pals, I'm humbly asking for your help. I need a little cash influx for-- 1.)Manufacturing the record and related costs (artwork, design, photography, etc). 2.)Making a video with the amazing Christian Sorensen Hansen. See his work at http://internationalfilingsystems.com/ and also the teaser above. 3.)Ancillary promotion costs to get the record to folks who write about music.
This extra financial help will do so much to get this record out into the world and to as many ears as possible. I really believe in it. Thanks for taking a look and for your generosity. All the best,
