About this project
Our Story
UPLDR (pronounced "Uploader") is a near future sci-fi tragedy about a rogue scientist that takes his self-experimentation too far. The arrogance of his genius will not only carry him down a dangerous road but humankind itself into a precarious future.
The completed film will be approximately 35 minutes long and innovate on the standard tropes of science fiction while providing a thought-provoking glimpse into what may lie ahead for us all.
We are currently in pre-production and hope to begin shooting in January dependent on being able to be funded.
How Kickstarter Works
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing funding platform which means that if we don't reach our funding goal, we do not get the money to fund our project.
Depending on your pledge amount, there are all sorts of wonderful goodies to receive as detailed in the sidebar to the right.
The Budget
Everyone involved, cast and crew, is doing this out of love and passion for this story. Not a single person will be paid wages for the project. You will see all money given on screen and not a single cent wasted. If we exceed the limit, the extra funds will go to better equipment, locations, and the like.
Spreading the Word
Word of mouth from you to your community, friends, and family is essential for raising awareness of this project. Please let people know about us!
We would appreciate you following our adventure at any of these venues across the social spectrum at Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, and Youtube.
We maintain a blog that is updated frequently which not only details behind-the-scenes action but we hope will prove a resource for all aspiring filmmakers out there.
If you have any questions please contact us through Kickstarter or send us an email at info@sentientcinema.com.
Who Are You?
Sentient Cinema - www.sentientcinema.com
As friends, we've known each other since 2001. As film lovers, we've developed individually over a lifetime. We decided to combine our friendship and passion for films into a venture that would let us express ourselves jointly. Thus, Sentient Cinema.
The idea of "sentience" is that of an awareness, a consciousness, the ability to experience. We aim to not only to entertain but to elevate. Tears, laughter, smiles, and sorrow, it's why we're all here, it's why we're human. It's why Sentient Cinema will deliver the best of those experiences to you.

FAQ
-
Pre-production is going full steam ahead. We've done the teaser (that you can see above, on Vimeo, and YouTube). The script has been locked down for a while, storyboards are complete, and we will begin casting within the next two weeks.
If fully funded, we will commence actual production in mid-January. We have most of the locations scouted and all the official paperwork out of the way, we just need to complete financing to get everything rolling.
-
Once the film is complete, we have plans to submit it to film festivals. Depending on how that goes, we are also looking into the options of distributing it digitally. Those that have pledged a certain amount will get their digital and DVD versions before the film is given a general release.
