Photo-main

A psychological thriller short film that celebrates how the power of cinema can heal old wounds and connect people through stories.

Have you ever had a secret that was hard to express or communicate?

Projection is an independent short film that centers on a young woman who has long struggled to conceal a past traumatic event, but is forced to relive it when the movie she attends violently comes to life, recreating the past and teaching her an important lesson.

ABOUT THE FILM

The central theme of Projection is the transformative power of art. More specifically, cinema. By re-experiencing her past through the film medium, the protagonist (Abigail Cooper) is finally able to overcome her past demons as well as her present insecurities. The project is a love letter to film. We hope our final product will impact audiences with its universal themes of human connection, overcoming fears and learning one's self-worth.

Projection was first penned in the fall of 2009, and has since gone through countless rewrites and adjustments to arrive at the compelling narrative it is today. We are currently in pre-production and plan to begin principal photography in May 2012 in the Ann Arbor and Farmington areas.

We are an official University of Michigan student production.

WHY WE NEED YOU

As noted by the three-year span of rewrites for Projection, we are striving for cinematic excellence. As you can imagine, making a film with the production value that we are striving for is not going to be cheap. We will do everything in our ability to cut costs, but the reality of filmmaking is that it is expensive, especially a student film of this audacity.

By donating to our production, you will help defray expensive production costs. These include travel costs (gasoline/equipment van rental), set design (costumes/props/makeup), location fees (Civic Theater in Farmington) and equipment rentals.

Your contribution will help make the production a reality. We would be so grateful, especially given the long road it has taken to get here. In return, we want to give back to all those who helped contribute, so check out the rewards we are offering on the side of the page. In addition, you will be provided with periodic updates of the production with stills and video, so you can see where your money is going. We also have Twitter and Facebook accounts (links below) that will hep keep you involved as much as you'd like.

Thanks!
