A streetwise former boxer searches for his estranged father who has disappeared from a nursing home in East Los Angeles.

The idea for this film first came to me when a thought popped into my head:  Can you hold a grudge against someone who has lost their memory? And what’s the cost of that – to you and to them? The story of La Bendición is an exploration of the power memory has over our lives – both positive and negative. And the unexplainable ability music has to unlock these memories – even when they seemed to be gone forever.

La Bendición is a short film, 12-15 minutes long. It will be shot in mid May in Los Angeles, in English and in color --though we do love how that black and white test footage turned out!!!

This project has been in the works for a long time we are thrilled to see it all coming together. It is truly a team effort by an amazingly talented and giving group of folks who have joined together from all over the world:  The US, Mexico, The UK, Israel and Austria! It is a project we believe in fiercely and we would love your help in making this story come to life.

What the money will be used for:

  • Lights, camera, action: HD camera and lens rentals, lights to create the set for our amazing actors to perform, generators, sound gear, etc.
  • Food:  When people are either donating their time or working for far less than they are worth, it makes a huge difference if they are well fed!
  • Post production:  Once it's been shot, it still has a long way to go! Editing, color correction, sound mix, sound design and a top-notch score make all the difference!
  • Festivals: Getting your film out there costs $$$ -- festival submission fees, marketing, posters, a website
What we're asking is the minimum we need to be able to accomplish our goal, anything on top of that is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! That could mean a few more lights, better locations, more lenses or an extra hour with the crew to get that pivotal shot just right!
