A documentary project in Los Angeles California, being produced by the AnimatronicAckbar collective.

Beyond the Game is a documentation of video Game culture, exploring both the evolution of gaming, and the creation of a multi billion dollar a year industry. Our film will present specific elements of the culture with great emphasis placed on the fighting game community, the advent of the chip tune sound, and the formation of underground art collectives.  As both computer and video game play have vastly increased in popularity over the years, they have gone on to greatly impact mainstream culture.  Affecting everything from the clothes we wear, the music we listen to, and the films we watch on the big screen.  They have lead to the creation of massive online gaming communities, helping to break down social barriers and forever altering the way we interact.  It's not so much the games that keep us coming back for more, but rather the long term relationships formed along the way!   We are looking to raise the necessary funds needed to complete production on this ambitious project, that we have been filming for the past year and a half. Travel and equipment expenses have been piling up, and we are about to embark upon the lengthy and expensive post production process.
