Urban fantasy novel about the death of the Faery Queen & the battle for the succession via prophecy, warfare, intrigue, & revolution.
Fortunate Son is my debut urban fantasy novel, set in a magical version of Wilmington, North Carolina. The great Queen is dead after centuries of benevolent dictatorship, leaving no clear successor, and her realm is fragmenting under the weight of conflicts between the conservative Old World Gentry who support the new Queen, the radical and reckless Cavaliers who serve the ambitious Black Prince, and an anti-authoritarian, anti-monarchial uprising among the city's shapeshifters. The city itself is flanked between the hostile Beast-Kings to the west and the enigmatic Mare Queen in the east, and at the crossroads of history stands Michael Bruce, the Captain of the Queen's knights, and one human family under his protection. It's about plots, corruption, secrets, prophecy, violence, and honor, and it's coming to you in 2013.
