Update #15: It's becoming a Theme, Surviving or Thriving?

Posted on May 17, 2010

A great friend and kicking supporter of this project sent me an inspiring link, see below!

It's a 3.22min interview by Teri Hatchet with Mariel Hemingway.

Are you Surviving or are you Thriving is a THEME. Truly knowing what makes me Thrive took ages, years and allot longer than I imagined. I suspect I'll keep learning and adding to this short list. Above all I Thrive sharing the idea that WE have the option, we choose how we want to experience our lives.

I'd love to hear your comments or read about the things that make you Thrive. Please email me at iamthrivingnow@gmail.com if you can share your thoughts. Enjoy the film below,

Inspired to Thrive,

Update #14: Radio Interview & our Move to London

Posted on April 13, 2010

I wanted to share an interview I did with Hannah Murray from Talk Radio Europe http://www.talkradioeurope.com/clients/monteiro.mp3
It's 17 minutes long, not mad about hearing myself but its a move in the right direction and its been fantastic to receive new interest in the project! Thank you Carly for mentioning our project!

Also, I'd like to ask for your help. I am putting together the 10 questions I'll ask each Thriver and I'd really appreciate any you might want to know the answers to?
1. Question I'd like to know each of your answers to is: What does Thriving mean to you?

Rafa and I begin our drive to London tomorrow at 2am. We'll be taking the 24 hours Ferry from Santander to Portsmouth and I've included a picture of us preparing yesterday, see below. With Rafa's car drooling habit a friend suggested I take a snorkel and goggles, I took her advise, Thanks Katy.

Update #13: Most Memorable Moments from the Women in the world summit

Posted on March 15, 2010

Last Monday I participated in a "meet on a bridge" march in London as a volunteer for www.womenforwomen.org. It's the first time I have ever marched! Allot of me was uncomfortable with the whole "women only" thing, I feel strongly that one without the other is not possible, might fall into my love of paradoxes, but that's a whole other story. Turns out it wasn't women only and as one man shouted out very loudly "all men come out of a women"...........

The experience ignited something in me, I'm not yet sure what it is but knowing that in over 100 Countries around the world, people were standing on what ever bridge they could find, supporting women and their place in life was Inspiring. So was listening to Annie Lennox appreciate just how fortunate she is! Uploaded some pix below and Please take a look at the link for some short stories that are sure to make you smile and think.

Update #9: The Blue Sweater by Jacqueline Novogratz

Posted on February 20, 2010

I've long been interested in the overlap between making money and giving money away. Living and working on wall street really opened my eye's to just how ingrained giving back is in American Society. I could go on and on about this subject, I feel they are both essential in building a brighter future but I'll do that some other time.

Books helped change my thinking and right now I want to share a review post by Fred Wilson on a book called The blue Sweater:

http://www.avc.com/a_vc/2010/02/the-blue-sweater.html

then today, another man who inspires me, Seth Godin posted a 1.5min video on recognising a linchpin. (Linchpin is the title of his latest book) Thought you all may enjoy this 1.5 min clip too.

http://vimeo.com/9566384

So, if you prefer to read, go to avc's review and if you prefer to watch, click on the vimeo link.

and if you like the story take a look at Jacqueline Novogratz's video on why A blue Sweater, it's 2.45mins.........
http://www.acumenfund.org/bluesweater/

I hope this is also the beginning of a much longer conversation.

      Hi Tanya,

I'm a big fan of both Jacqueline and Seth's too. The Blue Sweater took me on such an inspiring journey and I'm currently cruising through Seth's Linchpin. Glad to know you've got such positive influences in life. :)

Update #8: If you know anyone?

Posted on February 17, 2010

I'm just watching the Female molesters Video. If you know anyone who's been abused, ask them to find a photo of themselves at the age is started and notice, feel if they think they could have stopped it.
I took a VERY, VERY long time to forgive myself for not stopping it. I was 12 when it started and spent an enormous amount of energy in beating myself up for not stopping it. This was a key in my learning to Thrive, to realise no matter what I would not have been able to prevent it from happening. I think the photo is a great idea, please DO share it with anyone you know that is struggling to deal with themselves.

love this little handy hint, which is very doable but not overwhelming and very useful. also love your honesty. Welll done. Keep at it, YOU ARE making a difference already:)

Update #7: Video's to see if / or when you find the time

Posted on February 17, 2010

A friend and the first person to pledge on this project Charlene Mulder pointed me to Oprah's show a week ago, or so. She interviews 4 male child molesters, pretty remarkable footage. Oprah continues to inspire me, her questions are direct, her compassion palpable! If this is not enough, scroll down further and see this weeks interview with Female molesters, I've not watched this myself yet. Wanted to share this with you! (P.S. I'm a novice at some of this technology stuff, if you cant link through on these URL's please go to www.Oprah.com and click on Video, top left side. You'll see all her shows there!!!) Happy for any feedback, good, bad or indifferent.
Love
Tanya

Update #3: Almost half way to the goal

Posted on January 10, 2010

Hello everyone,

Kickstarter sure has been an interesting project, we are almost 50% of the way to funding the first shoot and I've been blown away by the response!
After 8 months of researching how I could go live on Kickstarter without being a US resident, I finally figured it out in December. It was a tricky time for me as knew I had to follow through with my trip to Australia in January and really all I wanted to do was work on the film. Now, 2 weeks into the new year and with your support and the amazing events that have unfolded as a result of this project I will return to London earlier than expected to meet with another film maker and continue to make this dream a reality.

Please continue to share your ideas and thoughts, it's always useful to me and please do pass on the link to anyone that you think might be interested in participating.

Here's to a 2010 filled with Happy, Healthy and Positively Unique moments.
Love & Appreciation,
Tanya

I’m an explorer with a global soul. Love to share what I learn along the way. Huge fan of the outdoors, yoga, sunshine, surf, tennis and living with colour.

Born and raised on a farm in South Africa, I took my first flight at 5 days old….:) After 12 years of city living I’m back in nature and living my dreams!

Currently sharing yoga and yoga inspired clothing & events. Taking long walks with my dog Rafa and working on a documentary based on 10 people, from around the world that were sexually abused as children and are THRIVING today, it’s fun, meaningful and gives my life purpose – I love to live by those rules!
