What the fuck are you talking about dude?

Ok so I wish I could say this kickstarter was for some awesome cause, or it was going to change the world, but it would be a slight stretch to do so. This is just so I can produce the kind of art I normally couldn't do, because I'm a poor bastard photographer. I have always had big concepts in mind that I wanted to pull off, but have been unable to do so because they were just beyond my means. Which is why I believe this website is pretty awesome for the art scene. Why wait around until some corporation or magazine decides to give you the budget you need, when you can just go straight to the people, and give them something in return for their money that made it happen. I am hoping people see the potential in my ideas and think I'm worth their time and funds to make these projects happen. I've always thought about how awesome it would be to one day have the budgets I needed to make my stories come to life, I want to share them with you guys,  help me share them with you guys!

Why the hell are you trying to do this? Gas Mask?

Wow Mckay, that is an excellent question to ask yourself! Very insightful!

Anyhow, usually when gas mask are involved with a scene or scenario, it is something with an ominous tone to it. It's in the middle of war, or people are dying, or some bank is being robbed. So I'd like to do the opposite! I'd love to portray a modern day view on the bright side of germ warfare!

What if our country was attacked, or some air born disease went global, and everyone from here on out was required to wear a gas mask, day in and day out. Yet life would go on, people would still shop, people would still party, people would still have fun. Your children would still go to prom, your co-workers would still piss you off, and your family would still get together for pointless holidays, except with a gas mask on of course. That is what these photos are about. I think it would be odd, and I think it would be eerie, to see scenes from your everyday life with a twist of post apocalypse! What if you went to a Bar-B-Q and everyone was eating and swimming and having a ball, but everyone had a gas mask on. This to me is an ultimate juxtaposition of security and safety. It makes me feel uneasy and happy at the same time. It makes me feel like the end is near, but fuck it will move past that end and start something new. I believe I can make this concept come to life in a series of photos, but I would need some god damn help!

My Work

Before we get deeper down the rabbit hole, I'm just gonna show some samples of my work, which I hope persuades you into believing I could do this project justice. I am a conceptual photographer at heart, and think I do it damn well, but I'll let you be the judge.

The Gameplan

I'm going to use this time here now to try and explain how we plan to do this, as well as show some sample images so you can try to get an idea and vision of what will be going on. Below is a drawing of a pool party we did to try and show what one scene might look like.

The point we are trying to get across, is that although we have entered end times, good times will still be had! I want to show the complete opposite of what people think about in germ warfare. I want to show people still surviving and still having a good time. Who is going to stop us from going out to a pool party, as long as we get out gas mask! This is not to say this is how it will be, but I really think it's an expression of what might happen if we meet with the end of the world, we will find a way to persevere, because that's what shitty human beings do. 

Some other scenes we are thinking about are grocery stores, playgrounds, school hallways, office environments. Pretty much any every day scene, except everyone has a gas mask on! Here are just some sample images to help you envision these scenes.

How I came out with this amount to get this project done?

Just so you can understand why the budget is so large for a couple photos, I'll try and explain just a few things we'll need to do it right.

- 50+ Gas Mask - This right here is probably the biggest expense, Probably a couple grand for authentic Gas Mask.

- Locations - I will most likely have to rent these scenes, in order to properly put them together without hassle from the outside/

- Models - I am going to do my best to get extras for free, but most likely we will have to provide them with lunch and alcohol so they come out!

- Props - To make these scenes work, were going to need a bunch of miscellaneous crap to have a authentic feel. For a pool party for instance, we'll need beach balls and food going around and certain clothing and such for key parts.

There are many other things, but these are the main points.
