Update #55 · Nov 7, 2011 · 1 comment

We wanted to give you guys an update and thank you for being a part of the film. The response we have received has been truly overwhelming.  We had families, teams, and coaches attend screenings and the result was extremely positive. Some comments from people who saw the film are below. Judging by the reaction we truly believe that this film has the ability to positively impact people, most importantly the youth. Jay's story can also help grow the sport in this country. I attended a matinee screening in Long Beach with almost 100 people yesterday and to see people's reactions first hand was incredible.

If this film had a regular "Hollywood" budget we would be in theaters nationwide and all over the mainstream media. With that said the passion of the soccer community and independent film supporters has already broken barriers with this film. We have the possibilty to continue to expand this film and grow the game. If you can please spread the word letting people know that the film is playing again this week (starting on Wednesday) we would really appreciate it. We are hoping that the word of mouth extends the theater run and continues to get the word out. Thanks so much! We should all be proud of this achievement. Info on the screenings this week is available at jaydemeritstory.com

Also - DVD's are coming. We are truly sorry for the delay. We had an issue with the "authoring" and have been extremely overwhelmed. We are trying to get them to you guys asap.

This Is It - Thank You All So Much

Update #54 · Nov 1, 2011 · 1 comment
Hard to believe we are less than 2 days away from the film being released.  First off, we can't express how grateful we are to everyone. The word is officially out - people know about Jay's story.  People all over have become aware of it, in and out of the soccer world.  When we started filming almost 2 years ago we had no idea the film would be where it is - honestly we didn't even know if we would finish it but figured we would at least have something to show Jay's grandkids.  But once we started and heard what people had to say... and then saw that his story had the ability to inspire others as it had - we had no choice but to do everything that we could to succeed in getting it out. And we are at a point where we really do feel like we have done everything that we can. Most films today have huge production budgets and just as large budgets to advertise, very few less than seven figures.  We have not had any of that, and but for you the film would not have seen the light of day.  But because of you it has broken down every barrier that it has come across.

Everyone should be proud of what has occurred through this process.  This is a time to come together and celebrate what we have done as well as the beautiful game and Jay's inspiring story.  It is soccer's time to shine in America.  Jay has been on Fox, ESPN, and so many other outlets in the past few days because people want to hear about his story.  He has continuously said it isn't about him but the journey.  His journey can and has inspired others.  We can't wait until Thursday to see what happens. We hope that it does inspire others and due to everyone's hard work we have that opportunity.  SO THANK YOU ALL!

We are working as hard as we can to get the DVD's out. We will have them out as soon as possible.  Please continue to spread the word in the last 2 days - email, call, and use your social networking tools to continue spreading the word.  It has been a long time in the making and we are almost there.  Congratulations to everyone for what we have accomplished. We should all be proud

Talk to Jay today! ESPN Sportscenter

Update #53 · Oct 27, 2011 · 1 comment
Hello everyone, one week left! Wanted to let you know that Jay is going to be available for 2 hours today from 4-6 Pacific time to chat and answer any questions that you have.  He is taking over Rave Motion Pictures twitter account - http://twitter.com/#!/ravemovies

Please give him a tweet or two if you have time and ask him anything you want about his journey. A journey that now finds his face on a poster in Times Square - who would have thought this was possible when he was playing Pub League in England or hopping on a plane with the money he could scrounge together!

Also, Jay will be on ESPN Sportscenter next Tuesday at 4:40 Eastern Time so please check it out!  Thanks, we are almost there... please keep spreading the word to the soccer community and beyond.

Just over 1 week to go/Just spoke about Kickstarter at Forum!

Update #52 · Oct 24, 2011 · comment

Hope everyone is well. We have just over one week to go. We just got great news that another club rented out a theater for the youth teams, coaches, and families in the area. What is happening is amazing. I always wanted to let you know we were invited to speak at an Independent Film Forum hosted by Indiwire and featuring some of the more established "Hollywood" names. I spoke about Kickstarter and our campaign and what we all have created without any real ad budget, just passion and people power.  I tried to give a clear message that everyone out there has the tools to do it.  I really wanted it to be something that others could listen to and take away the message that it is possible and that with the right approach you don't need the traditional "Hollywood" model.  After the talk I had a lot of people come up and remark that they really appreciated it and valued it. They also showed the trailer on the big screen and everyone loved it.

We are just over one week away. We are working very hard to get everything out to you. Another 200 t-shirts are going out today and we are just waiting on the dvds to send as well. We are going to get them out as soon as possible. We wanted to ask everyone to please reach out to their local media. We have had great success, even just walking into the local newspaper's office or local art/entertainment mag.  They actually love to see people taking an active role. It has also worked wonders in getting into more theaters. The distributors are truly blown away by what is happening as were most people at the forum.  So please, if you have a few minutes stop by and bring them a flyer or press release or any other info about the film.  You can get it all at the link below and it goes so far.  Editors and writers love to be able to see things in person and talk to people. Thanks so much!

Great News! Another call to action

Update #51 · Oct 20, 2011 · 5 comments

First off, thanks to everyone for the media outreach. We were able to get over 20 people reviewing and writing about the film in major sports publications throughout the country.  We are promoting the film with no ad budget so everything is appreciated.

We are getting a ton of interest from sports related features... even though Hollywood still is ignoring the film.  Even though we are now in over 130 theaters, even though we sold out Chicago in 8 hours and they had to expand it (the theater was bombarded with phone calls), even though something amazing happened in Kalamazoo where an organization bought out 2 entire screenings and all they are asking is people bring a donation for charity.  Hollywood is more focused on covering the remake of Footloose than this incredible true people powered story. They just don't get it!

Please continue to get the word out to the media, to coaches, to clubs, and to anyone else who is interested.  We are encouraging everyone to buy their tickets in advance.  Get all the info at jaydemeritstory.com

When we pack these screenings and do it in the way that we did, then Hollywood and everyone else will take notice.  Amazing things are happening, with entire teams, supporters groups, and organizations coming out to view the film.  We have two weeks left! Everyone knows the road we have taken to get here.  We are focused, foot to the pedal, looking forward! Thanks for your continued support!
