Forged from gold that had "fallen from the sky" during the Jin Dynasty, The Bent Blade is unearthed in modern day Manchuria, China.
In 1118, the Jurchen tribal chieftain Wanyan Aguda (完顏阿骨打) discovered a meteor of gold and other metals at the bank of the Amur river in Manchuria. Sensing a unique glow and strange energy from the meteor, Aguda commands his master craftsman to use it to forge a "great sword". Upon completion, The Bent Blade is like no other. A beautifully crafted gold and jewel covered sword (slightly bent, of course), it possess magical powers of both protection and destruction. The power of the sword is unmatched and it propels Aguda to victories over the much larger forces of the Liao Dynasty. On his death bed, Aguda orders The Bent Blade to be encased in a tomb deep within the Khingan Mountains. There it remained until 2012 when it's unearthed in an archeological dig. It remained simply a magnificent relic of the past until sent on loan to the Museum of Natural History in New York. There, upon viewing the sword, a Chinese exchange student is sent a vision of it's magical and glorious past. Will this vision be a fleeting dream or a call to unleash the power of The Bent Blade?

About The Project!
Hi and thanks for visiting my Kickstarter page! What you've just read is a summary for my comic book called The Bent Blade. I'm trying to raise the money needed to get the first issue of The Bent Blade produced and published. I have a working full length movie script copyrighted and completed and this is an attempt to move the idea in to a comic book and hopefully (in the future) off to a major motion picture. As many of you are aware, comic book movies are the rage. I watch them all - some are great, some disappointing. What's really lacking in today's market is an unusual and original superhero. Aren't we all pretty tired of the ones we have? Well maybe not, but a new one couldn't hurt! In the Chinese exchange student Johnny Ho, and his ability to flawlessly use The Bent Blade, I believe we have found such a hero!
Where does the money go to?
The money will be used entirely to hire an artistic team to draw the comic according to the first part of the full length script. It also covers the cost of publishing, printing a limited run, and the fees taken by Kickstarter (and the cost of the rewards we are offering here). In a nutshell, all the money goes towards the production of The Bent Blade issue #1.
What do I get if I make a pledge?
Every pledge gets a reward but the more you pledge the bigger the reward! The rewards are listed on the right hand side of my Kickstarter page. Also everyone who pledges has access to this project's updates. Some of the incentives have limited amounts (like the original signed art work - wouldn't that be cool?)
When will I receive my incentive?
Once my goal is met I will begin contacting the backers to get their relevant information (i.e. shirt sizes, photos for likeness references, etc.). I estimate that this entire production will take about six months once it is fully funded. Remember, the incentives can only happen if my goal is met.
If I don't live in the U.S. can I still pledge?
Absolutely! No matter where you are in the world, you can still pledge!
Can I gift an incentive?
Of course! But first you'll need to go through the normal process of making the donation in your name. After the deadline I will contact you through Kickstarter. (It will be forwarded to the email address you provided). if you want the incentive to go elsewhere just please reply with the person's information who is to receive the reward. I will make sure they are the person who receives the reward.
Can I increase my pledge once it's been made?
YES! Once you donate to my campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to my campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
Can you exceed the goal?
Yes! How amazing would that be?! Exceeding my goal will allow me to put additional content in the comic or print variant covers.
