About this project
Kaia sings world music and globally-informed original pieces from the raucous to the sublime, from the flirty to the pensive. We've sung our way across Bloomington, earning enough to fund the overwhelming chunk of studio expenses for our new album. But we're falling just a hair short, as we put the final finishing touches on our first non-live oeuvre. It's Kaia like you've never heard us, with each voice sparkling and everything just the way we've always wanted it.
We're looking for supporters, big and small, to help us wrap things up and give the world a whole new perspective on our sound. You'll get to groove along, knowing it couldn't have happened without you!

Kaia is a Bloomington, Indiana-based a cappella vocal ensemble performing world music, jazz, spirituals, original compositions, improvisation, and anything else that strikes our fancy. Many of us have a long history of performing in other groups (indie bands, small ensembles, choral work, musical theatre, etc). Founded in October 2004, we've performed just about everywhere.
Our musical influences are very diverse, including Mel Torme, Tupac Shakur, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, classical composers, Libana, and various world music performers. That diversity makes us unique—you never know what we'll do next!
