Transform a warehouse loft in the LA arts district into a maniacal thrill ride, experience a cautionary tale of the 21st century
KIDS TERRIBLES' brings you the theatrical experience, Those Whom the Gods Love - the Los Angeles Premiere.
Directed & Written by Olivia Lilley
'Those whom the gods love grow young.'- Oscar Wilde
This is the story of Sonia, a sheltered astrophysics major at the University of Chicago; she secures an internet boyfriend, Darren, an aging trust fund baby in Malibu, who flies her out for the weekend to lose her virginity.
Lulu, Darren's neighbor and Harvard drop-out turned undercover paparazzi - will stop at nothing to win back the love of a Lindsay Lohanesque superstar who sent her on a downward spiral.
With her discovery of Lulu, Sonia's eyes are opened to a world she's only ever read about in the tabloids.
When Lulu and Darren welcome Sonia to their universe, where you can't tell the difference between on screen and off, her need for their acceptance demands that she reject the only identity she knows.
An excerpt from the script...
What do YOU think of Sara?
I think she’s gorgeous. In that Lolita sort of way.
Like the little girl from that Russian novel where the professor guy’s like a pedophile. Well, I mean- this character. This… Lolita. She’s described as a sort of porcelain doll. Fragile. Frozen in time. There’s something hopelessly naïve about her. Like… No matter how much sexual perversion is tossed her way, the gravity of the situation never quite hits her-she never quite… grows up. Like she’s forever doomed to be that child who cannot stop lifting her skirt up over her head in front of old men. Don’t you think Sara’s kind of like that? I mean- after all this time burning under the Hollywood spotlight, it seems to me, from what I’ve read- mostly interviews in respected magazines- that she still considers the world her playground. Even after numerous trips to rehab… she still believes nothing bad has ever happened to her. At least, that’s the impression I got. From the way she
Or maybe her freckles are deceiving. I don’t know.

Her friend Brett introduced her to the group's music. First time she saw them perform, Olivia knew they had "it". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ_JqRcU9YA
This will be the Los Angeles premiere of the play, Those Whom the Gods Love - a scintillating tragedy about smart young women trying to find their place in the real world.

The Wit and Rhythm of Aaron Sorkin's Dialogue!:
The Tragic Figures of Tennessee Williams' Streetcar Named Desire:
The humor & wry observations of American culture found in Nabokov's Lolita:
"Believers in the western gospel of earthly bliss must detest their bodies and their actual lives just like the nuns and monks of old. Pious Christians used to chastise themselves by fasting, by denying themselves every day pleasures by stifling their desires by crushing their self respect by starving their bodies to gain 'eternal life'. Their modern secular opposites no longer fast to save their immortal souls but they diet, curbing their desires, forever chasing after a youthful body that will never be theirs again, forever feeling guilty about being too old, too flabby, insufficiently fit. The icons of our day may be fashion models but they still function by making us suffer. They instill guilt, humiliate us, and spur us to emulate an impossible ideal, as you vainly hope for a better afterlife, a remote vision of being tan, wealthy, and cool has replaced the beatitudes of the church."- Phil Blom
