UPDATE: Well it's down to 11 days and it looks like this project may not fly this time around. Regardless of the outcome we'll keep moving along. Maybe the next time around this book will get the funding it needs. That said...here is a sample of the wallpaper reward in black and white. The final will be in full color:

THE STORY:
Being Bold is the story of Lee, a geeky teenager who through a rare moment of courage and frustration, finds himself in a situation where he ends up with the ability to transform into a super-powered being the media quickly dubs "Bold"…but with a cost.

Being Bold is a 5-issue limited series. The goal is to get this funded and printed with the hope of gaining interest from independent publishers to get the remaining issues out. I plan to make this issue look so spectacular that publishers will be willing to get the remaining issues out to the general public and a broader audience. High hopes but hey...that's where hope belongs right?

That’s also where you wonderful people come in!

FUNDING
I’m asking for $8000 to help get this project going. Times are rough I understand, and I know this isn't a small request, but I am hoping that as an independent artist with a clear product, I can find people willing to invest in getting good stories out there into the world. Ones from the heart and given everything a creator has to make it look the best way possible.

The entire $8000 will go towards the creation and publication of the comics in all capacities. The money will be used to pay the committed artist, a future colorist and letterer, as well as any other supplies needed to help craft the rest of this story. The remaining money will be used to produce and send out all the promised rewards to the amazing supporters reading this right now! I had a limited budget that is already drained which stalled the project, so I am hoping to 'kick-start' this thing back into relevance. Fingers crossed and all.

I really want this in FULL COLOR. I just need to be able to pay the penciler/inker as well as a professional colorist. I hope this black and white presentation will be enough to peak your interests. The lettering is temporary as well, as I hope to be able to use the funds to pay for a professional letterer, but for the purposes of storytelling I wanted you to get a quick feel for the dialogue and characters.

I am committed to telling this story because I know that it is something unique and engaging that will captivate and entertain comic book lovers of all ages. I want to ensure that this comic makes it to print and I feel this is the best route for me to take.

I’ve collaborated with a fantastic and energetic artist/creator that is penciling and inking the story with the promise of future payment. Rasheed has been working as an artist and storyteller for quite some time, and after seeing his approach to the story I was sold on the reality that he could tell it.

WHY DO THIS?
I love comics. My husband turned me onto comics years ago and I fell in love with the medium. Seeing this project realized is a dream of ours, and one I would be ever so grateful to see make it past the planning stage. As artists though, we do fit the stereotype…particularly the “starving” part. It’s not easy, yet the passion is eternal and undying.

Ultimately I want to bring something fun and interesting to comics, and overall I simply want my contribution to the comic book world to be an enjoyable one.

After discovering this website I saw the first chance to make this project happen and so ladies and gentlemen, I am throwing my hat into the ring.

This story is all about discovering the hero inside of you. That being a hero has less to do with what you look like, and more to do with what you are. That is what this journey is about, and what Lee discovers in a most surprising way.

I think it is also a chance to give a more unique take on the superhero genre as a whole, while also providing a story that should be able to reach a diverse audience.
