To be or not to be is still the question.
Dante’s Hamlet is the story of a young man who is troubled by the recent murder of his younger brother, Jamal. As his English class discusses whether or not Hamlet’s tragic flaw is inaction, Dante finds himself in a similar dilemma: should he avenge his brother’s death or learn as his girlfriend, Luz, tells him to “just let it go?”
While much of the story stems from our experiences growing up in New York, Dante’s Hamlet explores universal themes of revenge and forgiveness--themes that are as relevant today as they were during Shakespeare’s time.
As senior film students at Brigham Young University, we have the rare privilege of shooting a capstone -- the largest project officially supported and partially funded by the BYU Media Arts Department. While BYU’s support is necessary in seeing this film through to completion, we’re looking for additional funds in order to help Dante’s Hamlet reach it’s full potential. By donating to our project, you help us cover the cost of paying our cast members, paying for important design elements, and essentially turning Provo, Utah into the Bronx.
With your help, we know we can do it! Thank you so much for your support.
