About this project

The Mission Creek Music and Arts Festival is continuing the tradition that has become its centerpiece for the last 2 years -- a free, all-day event at the amphitheater in San Francisco's beautiful McLaren Park, on Saturday, September 10. Last year, on a beautiful afternoon, we hosted the Fresh and Onlys, Grass Widow, Ganglians, Brian Glaze and the Nightshift, Miranda Lee Richards, Thorny Brocky, and the William Winant Percussion Group. Together, we can create another exceptional musical experience.

All money raised will go towards the cost of putting on this show at McLaren Park, and any dollar amount helps. In exchange for a Kickstarter donation, MCMAF is offering limited edition posters, a limited edition compilation CD featuring Mission Creek musical artists, free passes to Mission Creek venue shows, backstage passes to the McLaren Park Concert, house shows, the amazing opportunity to curate a Mission Creek show next year, and more.

We really need your help! Even if you can't afford to give, please pass this on to someone who might be able to. Post it on your favorite social networking site. Tweet it to your rich uncle. This will be the event of the summer!

“I wandered down a hill to the emerge upon the backside of an amphitheater full of hipsters, hippies, families, and weirdos all enjoying great weather and great music. In a moment, it felt so naturally San Francisco, as if of course there was a 600-person amphitheater in McLaren Park and of course it was filled with people on a Sunday afternoon, and of course Bart Davenport and band were playing onstage.” – Ben Van Houten, The Bay Bridged.

In 1996, Local Bay Area musician/artist Jeff Ray founded Mission Creek Music and Arts Festival in order to fill a cultural void that existed in San Francisco. Now in its 15th year, the festival has grown tremendously in size and attendance, from a one-day event with eight bands and an audience of approximately 100 to a weeklong festival with up to 180 acts, serving an audience of approximately 3,000. From now on, the Festival's focus will be more free outdoor music.

MCMAF currently includes a wide variety of art forms including film, dance, visual arts, literature, and multimedia performances. Fifteen years and over 800 events later, MCMAF has reliably featured a wide range of Bay Area talent, and has introduced many local musicians who have since achieved international acclaim. After more than a decade of unrivaled programming, MCMAF has become a destination for both national and international talent.
