Launching County Line Brewing is a goal and a dream come true, but we need your help!
County Line Brewing LLC is owned and operated by Laura and Zack Kiehl. Laura is a graduate student at Boise State University and has a BA in Sociology. Laura loves beer. Unbeknownst to Zack, Laura is secretly a marketing genius and makes up for Zack's introverted personality. Laura bought Zack a homebrewing kit about two years ago and it sat in a box for months because it seemed kind of complicated. Zack needed a hands-on teacher and when some guys from church mentioned homebrewing, Zack jumped at the chance to have them show him how. The first couple of brews were drinkable but less than impressive, so Zack started studying. Since then we have been formulating our own recipes and quenching the thirst of our friends and family.
Zack is not a graduate student at Boise State University but has a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Boise State. Zack has owned and operated a business in the Boise area for the past three years. Oh and Zack loves beer and Laura.
With your help, we will be purchasing brewing supplies and materials to be used in finishing the look of our awesome taproom. We are hoping to use reclaimed wood and stainless steel to create the look and feel of County Line; a little bit city, and a little bit country.
Your support will also allow us to develop our recipes for brewing in a commercial setting. We have awesome recipes to build on, including our flagship beer, our Bridging The Gap Blonde Ale. Bridging The Gap was first brewed with non craft beer drinking friends in mind. We want to make beer for everyone to enjoy. In the same way that more and more people value eating and purchasing locally, we want people to "drink local" as well. Some of the other beers we are looking forward to brewing in the taproom are:
Rabbit's Foot Irish Red
Barn Wood Brown Ale
Brew Dog Black IPA
Slow Draw Oatmeal Stout
Feliz Navidad Mexican Mocha Porter
Lemon Basil Blonde (available for naming by supporters as our summer seasonal!)
The Kettle that our friends have agreed to build for us will be a stainless steel 5 barrel (155 gallon) that will be direct fired. The burner for this will look like a flame thrower and will sound like a jet engine. It will be built to our exact specifications to ensure we keep making excellent beer for you.
Thanks for supporting our dream!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The risks involved with opening a brewery are huge. We have the easy part down, we make great beer. The biggest obstacle will be time. We will have to endure the months of licensing with the Federal, State, County and City government. The licensing can take up to 6 months through the Federal government. Remember, Kickstarter is an all or nothing project. If we don't make our goal within the allotted time frame, your pledge is not charged to you. All projects involve risk, but we've been researching the possible pitfalls and taking steps to avoid them.
This is a question we are getting a lot. A pledge is just that, a pledge that you will help up out if our project is successful. A successful project is one that meets its total goal. So, we need our pledges to add up to $35,000.00 by August 12th. You will not be charged a dime unless we reach that goal on August 12th.
