An art book containing selected pieces from my ten years of cartooning and illustration work.

A few years ago, a friend of mine and I were talking. I asked her what she did that day and she said, "I went to work, filed some stuff, had some lunch and came home. What did you do?"

And I said, "I drew Rhinos Bowling." It was at that point that I realized what a rarified life I have. Every day I get to get up and do the thing that I know without question I was put on this planet to do: draw. I'm very fortunate.

Along the way, I've created the superhero romantic comedy Love and Capes. Those stories have been printed and collected. But a lot of the work I've done for small clients or private collections or just non-comics cartoons have never been collected. I want an art book.

I've worked for the Cleveland Indians, the Colorado Rockies, dozens of newspapers and magazines, the Baltimore Spelling Bee… I even got to draw Stan Lee for Toon Tumblers and the Baltimore Comicon. There's so much stuff that I'm proud of, stuff I think you'll think is cool, that I want to have in one nice collection.

And not just the art, but roughs and process stuff that went into it too, along with some notes or amusing stories. Yeah, I'll bring the funny.

Lots of my favorite artists have these books. I know how popular they are. I've bought books from artists I've never heard of just because I liked their work when I saw it. I've discovered people through them. But printing, especially quality printing, is expensive. Hence my Kickstarter project.

Rhinos Bowling will be a 48-page (more pages may be added, see unlocking bonuses below) full-color art book, available in hardcover and softcover. Lots of art, lots of roughs, lots of notes.

UNLOCKING BONUSES

If we hit $5,000, I'll add in 12 extra pages featuring the Love and Capes Valentine's Day comic that's only been a digital download up to this point. At $6,000, I'll design custom sketch bookplates available only for Kickstarter funders. And at $7,000 I'll do a new Love and Capes t-shirt. People have been asking for a new design and this will let that happen. Everyone who donates at the $25 level or higher will then get one of these shirts.
