About this project

My Dust is My Nature is to be an original chapbook of off-beat affirmations printed by letterpress in a limited edition of 100 copies and assembled by hand. These nutritious affirmations can be chewed and swallowed without gagging. The book's introduction alleges that self-help is possible through the poetic imagination -- even for ordinarily cynical people. Each affirmation is designed to really work -- to help us value what we got, what we do, and who we are. You can take the kernel of what's true in each and pop it. You can read them multiple ways, get a hmmm, a chuckle and an ah, all for the same low price.

The book has been designed by local graphic artist and printer Michael Babcock of Interrobang Letterpress and features illustrations -- a window series -- by the author's young and talented son. The book will be printed by a metal linotype process using a big old mid-20th Century machine and hot metal poured into the 1930's vintage Erbar font molds. The money you contribute to the project is for the design and printing of the book. This beautiful little book to be is, in itself, an affirmation of the handmade, the homemade, and the favorable impression made by the old-fashioned printed word.

The book is made from a single sheet of paper!
