Designed by a beer drinking barber...
...that wanted the perfect tool for his lifestyle. After having a single comb made for himself, he decided that all people deserved access to such a useful, creative work of art. The OLD FAMILIAR Bottle Opening Comb is a combination of two of the most iconic and familiar tools used everyday, but has yet to be combined in this way... until now. These high-polish combs are laser engraved, and laser cut from 12ga stainless steel in Columbus, OH by artisan fabricators.
Made from Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel is a sanitary material which makes it great for use as a comb at home or in a barber shop. Stainless Steel will not rust and is far superior than any other type of metal (other than possibly Titanium) for making a comb bottle opener out of.
Research and Development
After numerous designs,we were able to achieve the most universal and durable opener to accommodate all types of beer bottles. We have finally settled on the strongest possible configuration through much “testing”, as well as, actual testing. The small blunt tipped tooth can reach under any bottle cap known to man, and the smooth curve one the other end allows for a quick and nearly effortless cap removal.
Manufacturing
We have planned out the best possible way to keep the fabrication process simple, effective, and completely local to Columbus. All combs will be CNC cut, and abrasively finished before polishing to ensure all the edges are clean and smooth. After all, nobody wants a sharp comb.
Where does the money go?
Research and Development - We have gone through many iterations for the shape of the bottle opener, each one is designed, cut, and tested on a wide variety of beer bottles.
Manufacturing - Your pledge will help to cover the initial cost of manufacturing. The more we are able to order up front, the more this cost is lowered per comb.
Packaging design - The packaging will be minimal but still represents some cost, which will be covered by your pledge.
