On the night before he could lose everything everything, Elliot finds Chloe. Bring festival favorite Falling Overnight to theatres.
Welcome to the “Falling Overnight + Movie Theatres = Great Idea” Kickstarter Campaign page! The goal of this page is to put Conrad Jackson’s celebrated debut film, Falling Overnight, into select theatres around the country in the Spring of 2012, with hopefully more after that. The film, which has touched audiences at film festivals all around the US, has been described as “a complicated yet sweet story of two people falling in love, a film that serves as a reminder of how powerful love can be, delivering equal amounts of pleasure and pain all within one night.”
Thank you for taking the time to visit and explore our Kickstarter page!
What is Falling Overnight about?
Falling Overnight tells the story of twenty-two year old Elliot Carson on the day before he has risky surgery to remove a brain tumor. Facing what could be his last night, Elliot’s path intersects with Chloe Webb, a young photographer who invites him to her art show. Elliot welcomes the distraction and as the night descends, Chloe takes him on an intimate and exhilarating journey through the city. But as morning approaches, and Chloe learns of Elliot’s condition, the magic of the evening unravels, and they must together face the uncertainty of Elliot’s future.
“Romantic and sincere, Conrad Jackson’s thoughtful film depicts the bittersweet experience of falling in love when the future is uncertain. With subtle and multi-layered performances by Parker Croft and Emilia Zoryan, this tale of two complex individuals is not about illness. Falling Overnight is a celebration of life through honest human connection.” - Tami Tanoor, Cinequest
What inspired us to make the film?
We’ve all been affected by illness, whether its a family member, friend, loved one, or ourselves, and we were interested in exploring the complex and often surprising emotions and experiences that come up when a person’s life is interrupted by sickness.
In talks with current and former cancer patients and medical professionals, the most consistent theme we came across was the notion that when you’re sick, you become one of the “sick people”, which can result in excruciating isolation from other humans. In meeting Chloe, Elliot begins to overcome this isolation, and through this struggle we attempted to capture some of the highest highs and lowest lows of the human experience, all in a twenty-four hour time period.
What has happened with the film thus far?
Since premiering at the Cinequest Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize, Falling Overnight has gone on to win 13 major awards at over twenty festivals (and counting!) with its international debut coming in November at the Stockholm International Film Festival.
Why are we on kickstarter?
We knew we were making a risky film when we began this process with a tiny budget, no established stars, and a script which prized honest human moments over more traditional structure. However, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we believe that there is a broader audience for Falling Overnight than the festival circuit. It’s a beautiful film that should be enjoyed on the big screen, and through Kickstarter we’re hoping to achieve that goal. We truly want to share Falling Overnight, and with your help, it will find its audience.
There are tons of things you can do help! The most direct way to help is for individuals and organizations to help us spread the word to audiences far and wide. Like our video at the top of the page and tweet it out to your friends; add us on Facebook and invite your friends to as well; make an announcement at your school, community, or religious group; or forward our email flyer to all your friends and family with your own personal message.
Spring 2012 release to theatres in New York and Los Angeles, then retail, movies on demand, and iTunes, shortly thereafter.
Our goal is to raise $20,000. These funds will be used, among other things:
1) To pay for printing, shipping, and other costs associated with physically putting Falling Overnight in theatres.
2) To pay for regional advertising in newspapers and magazines.
3) To pay for an experienced marketing and publicity consultant to help us properly advertise the film.
4)To pay for an experienced team of distribution consultants to make sure that Falling Overnight is readily available through all possible outlets, from theaters to Netflix.
Hey, no need to be nasty, we understand, and it is our sincere hope to bring Falling Overnight to additional cities nationwide. The more funds we raise, the easier it will be for us to both market and distribute the film, and the more cities we can play theatrically. So even if we've achieved our goal, keep the donations coming!
Yes. If you have already donated, and are signed in to your account, then instead of a green “Back This Project” button on our page, there should be a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click that, and you can enter a new amount or choose a new incentive.
We spent a long time considering how to thank supporters of Falling Overnight, in return for your generosity. Rewards range from a digital download of Lila Webb’s title track “Falling Overnight” for $1, to a DVD for $30, all the way up to a guided tour of the Falling Overnight shooting locations with Producer Jed Rhein, finishing with a private dinner and screening of the film with Director Conrad Jackson for $5000. For more information, just look to the right.
Also, over the course of the campaign, we will be announcing special incentives from time to time, so be sure to check back for some great rewards.
We will be shipping all rewards early 2012.
NOTHING! Shipping is included in all minimum pledge amounts.
After our deadline, we will send you a Kickstarter message (which automatically forwards to the email address you gave Kickstarter) requesting all the necessary information.
Yes you can! Gifting an incentive is literally the nicest thing one human can do for another! After the campaign, when we message you for details on your incentives, you can then give us the information for the person you wish to gift.
If we don’t reach our goal, Falling Overnight receives no funding for its marketing and distribution...and that would suck.
You can reach us at email@example.com – feel free to email with any questions or comments you might have.
