I just got back from playing music in the UK, Germany & Austria and I'm inspired! Very excited to get in the studio & make a new album!
1/5/12 Happy New Year! I don't think I've ever been this excited about an upcoming year, and you guys are the reason. I can't say thank you enough, (I think that was #437) for all of the support I've been getting. I absolutely can't wait to start recording, and I don' think it could have come at a better time. This year will hopefully bring me close enough to play these songs live for a lot of you. I have shows planned in a bunch of fun places like Italy, England, Germany, France, and plans to play in a bunch of other places both overseas and stateside. ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT!!!!

12/11/11 It's like having a beautifully wrapped present under my Christmas tree. I've picked it up and shaken it, and I know exactly what it is, and all I wanna do is open it and start playing with it, but I have to wait till Christmas morning, which in this case is Jan. 9th!
If I had known that you guys were so punctual and fast-acting I would have only made this campaign a week long and then I'd already be in the studio recording! Unfortunately, we can't shorten the term once it's already been launched, so I have wait just a bit before I can go make an album for which I will be forever indebted to my fans.
I've just posted update #2 which is a little behind the scenes look at our video... I hope you guys enjoy it, and laugh almost as much as we did making it! I've got quite a few more ideas for updates and things, so stay tuned!!

12/1/11 WOW. We passed the goal I thought we'd need 45 days to reach in 4 days! I'm working on a t-shirt design that properly (and probably humorously) commemorates this whole process. I'm also getting ready to do a "director's cut" of the video... that should be fun. ;) If this thing keeps going, I'd love to add record release parties in NYC, maybe Chicago or Dallas? If things get even more crazy, maybe I'll get the team back together for a music video...

I just got home from playing shows in the UK, Germany, and Austria, and I'm very inspired! I've got a bunch of new songs I'm excited to go in the studio and record. It will be my third album, and I'm hoping the best yet. My goal is to get this new album printed and ready for next spring/summer's tours, where I've got some shows lined up in some amazing places like Rome, Paris, and multiple cities in the UK and Germany.
I've been working with some amazing musicians here in LA, jamming, writing, and learning quite a bit in the process. I feel like I've really found a great direction for the new album and I can't wait to get it all down for you guys.
Lastly, I can't even articulate how much I appreciate my fans, if you've ever been to one of my shows, I hope I did a good job of relaying that. If there's anything left over after making this album, I'm going to use it to throw an awesome party (maybe two? one in LA, one in London?) for you guys, where I invite some of my good friends to help me launch this new album!

I’m shocked, flabbergasted, overwhelmed, and most importantly extremely thankful. I have the most amazing fans, and I can’t believe that I surpassed my goal in less than 5 days!!!! I've gotten a few (very good) questions about the process of making an album, and where the money will be budgeted, so I wanted to do a really quick, general breakdown of that. The following are estimates from my own experience, and some specific quotes, (printing quote came directly from the diskmaker's website)
Usually someone can make an entire well put together album with anywhere between 60-300 hrs. in the studio. Most people fall into the 90-150 hr range. You can get studio time for $30 to $200 an hour, depending on if you are in your buddy's place or one of the big pretty LA studios the big boys record in. I'll be going for something closer to the first one, but not all the way, let's say $75/hr and let's call it 120 hrs. = $9000
That's where I got the number I came up with for the kickstarter campaign, and I can't even tell you how stoked I am to be there! Due to the "all or nothing" format on Kickstarter, I went for an amount I thought was realistic,(for 45 days!!) but since we're there already, I'll break down where any additional money will be going as well!
Depending on what amount the campaign ends on, the studio cost could easily cost an additional 3000-5000, making that total 12,000 to 14,000
Mixing/mastering approx.= 500-1000
Printing 2,000 AUDIO CDs w/ a 6 Panel Folder (disk maker's website) = 2,781
Marketing and promotion= sky's the limit
CD release parties, (which I said if there was anything left, that's what I'd do with it! And if we make it there it will be a very fun show!!)
flight/hotel/venue in London = 2000- 3000 if I'm solo, 3500- 6000 if I bring a full band
LA (just gotta pay the band!)
Sorry for the boring stuff, I’d much rather be making another video where I make an idiot out of myself, but I just wanted to show you guys that there's still plenty of costs associated with the album, and I promise I'm not going to go out and buy a car. (That is until the album gets picked up on heavy rotation on UK and US radio, and then you can all come for a ride in my new car, which will be a tour bus. ;)
