Update #25: Elephabet wants to be an eBook and a poster when it grows up!

Posted on April 28

Hey Beautiful People!

I have a few announcements for you all. First and foremost: if you're in the Portland, OR area, I have six free events coming up in May to celebrate Elephabet, including a show with many of the original pieces from the book at my alma mater Oregon College of Art and Craft, an ElephaBrunch, an ElePhoto booth at Crafty Wonderland, and two Pachyderm Portmanteau Parties at Green Bean Books and the Tigard Public Library! Click here to find out more about these events. My local newspaper the Oregonian published a nice little article about Elephabet yesterday too--click here to read it.

Did you know that I have just launched another Kickstarter campaign for Elephabet? I had a few unrealized dreams for the book last fall and just plain ran out of time. These dreams include making an eBook version of the book and creating a poster with all the images from the pages on one big colorful page.  I put together a great selection of rewards, including a few favorites from last year's Elephabet campaign - click here to take a look.

Last, but not least, I'm gearing up to do a second book this summer - Arfabet! I'll let you know when it officially launches, but I plan to do the same thing as I did last year with Elephabet: to create the bulk of the original work for the book during the Kickstarter campaign so you can come along for the ride! This time I'll even have a show with all the original work on display at Velvet da Vinci Gallery, so book your tickets for San Francisco at the end of October because it's a party you won't want to miss! (The show will run from October 24 - November 25, 2012. Opening night is Friday, October 26, 6-8 pm.)

Take care, and thanks for all your support of this project. I couldn't have done it without you!

Update #24: Elephabets are on their way

Posted on December 15

Hello Beautiful People!

As of this writing, I have officially shipped off all of the Kickstarter packages! Woo hoo! The post office assured me that there was enough time for even the international parcels to arrive in time, so fingers crossed! I apologize that they are arriving so close to Christmas--this project took longer than I anticipated, but I think you'll be pleased with the results. See below to view all 300+ packages and boxes of envelopes in the back of my pickup, and the miles of receipts and customs forms. Shipping alone took three days! (Sorry there are no pictures from inside the post office, apparently that's not legal...unless you're getting a passport)

Beautiful People of Portland: I will be personally delivering your packages this Saturday!  I haven't determined my route yet, but if you don't see a bunny lurking on the premises, look for a pretty pink package on your doorstep! (If you would rather I mail it, please let me know!)

If my Radiophant didn't clue you in, I am a HUGE public radio nerd, and I was thrilled to be recently featured in a short video piece on Oregon Public Broadcasting! Click here to see me working on some of the pieces from Elephabet in my studio and show some of my favorites!

Don't forget--if you missed out on getting one of the original pieces from Elephabet, I have the remaining ones on my Etsy site! If you live in the San Francisco area, Velvet da Vinci Gallery also has some of the original sculptures and books. There's also additional copies of the softcover or workbook on Amazon. I still have some hardcover copies left here too, which should be ordered through me. (I can ship them immediately)

If you love the book, I'd be ever so appreciative if you'd take a moment to rate or review it on Amazon. I didn't have time to do a normal press release this year, but I plan to start getting out the word in early 2012 and it would be fantastic to have your support on Amazon. Thanks!

Again, my deepest gratitude for helping me realize this huge endeavor this year! Without your help, I would have never gotten to invest in all the details that made this project so professionally realized.

Over and out! Happy trails! Sayonara, bunnies!

Update #23: the Elephabet has landed.

Posted on December 2

Hey Beautiful People!

Just a quick message to say that I'm awaiting delivery of the dvds and then your packages will be out the door next week! Woo hoo! If you need something to tide you over until that happy day arrives, here's the animation, which I have posted on Vimeo

I have listed many of the original elephants on my Etsy site in a new section titled Elephabet.  Don't miss the critters section of my shop--there are lots of other plucky pachyderms there too!

You can also order copies of the book at this time! Yippie ki YAY!

Click here to order paperbacks via Amazon
Click here to order workbooks via Amazon
Click here to order hardbacks, while supplies last, directly from me

Please note that Kickstarter backers are the only ones who get the dvd and the button pack with their books!

I'm also thrilled to announce that booksellers and libraries can also order paperback copies via Amazon and receive their customary discounts. I will be sending a few promotional postcards along with my packages and would be appreciative if you helped me spread the word!

Thanks everyone for helping me realize this dream! I am hoping to have an ebook edition in 2012, and....drum roll......I'll be making a brand new alphabet book called Arfabet that stars....you guessed it: DOGS!  There will be another Kickstarter campaign, so if you want to get in early on the action, sign up for my email list on my website!

take care and start watching the mail at the end of next week!

Connected as Hilary Pfeifer (909 friends)

I have two personas as an artist--one is under my own name, where I create craft-influenced sculptures and installations that speak about the relationships between humans and nature. I have shown this work with Velvet da Vinci Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Craft, Fuller Craft Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Indianapolis Art Center, and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

I have a deep love of design, so I sometimes work under an alter ego: Bunny with a Toolbelt. This body of work includes small figurative sculptures that are sometimes functional (nativity sets, wedding cake toppers.) Bunny with a Toolbelt perfectly encapsulates my love for learning and working in many different art media with my fondness for occasionally appearing in public in a big floppy bunny suit.

In addition to Etsy, I sell my Bunny with a Toolbelt work at the Museum of Contemporary Craft, Oregon College of Art and Craft, The Center for Art in Wood, and Crafty Wonderland's biannual bazaar in my hometown Portland, Oregon. The work I show on my Etsy site has been featured in the Style section of the Sunday New York Times, Brides Magazine, and ReadyMade Magazine, among others.
