I have two personas as an artist--one is under my own name, where I create craft-influenced sculptures and installations that speak about the relationships between humans and nature. I have shown this work with Velvet da Vinci Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Craft, Fuller Craft Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Indianapolis Art Center, and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
I have a deep love of design, so I sometimes work under an alter ego: Bunny with a Toolbelt. This body of work includes small figurative sculptures that are sometimes functional (nativity sets, wedding cake toppers.) Bunny with a Toolbelt perfectly encapsulates my love for learning and working in many different art media with my fondness for occasionally appearing in public in a big floppy bunny suit.
In addition to Etsy, I sell my Bunny with a Toolbelt work at the Museum of Contemporary Craft, Oregon College of Art and Craft, The Center for Art in Wood, and Crafty Wonderland's biannual bazaar in my hometown Portland, Oregon. The work I show on my Etsy site has been featured in the Style section of the Sunday New York Times, Brides Magazine, and ReadyMade Magazine, among others.
Wow--I can't believe it took an entire month to get there! But thank you so much for the feedback! Incidentally, the paperback is larger because I used a different company to do it and that was the only square option. I love the sweet little hardcover books though--they are perfectly scaled to the elephants! Thanks again for the report and for supporting the project!
Hi Hilary I've received my package yesterday (here in Italy), very nice work!
My only (small) complain is that your cute elephants rally screams for bigger photos!
Good Job!
Hey Christie--it is probably because you turned off all notifications from Kickstarter because there were many requests for that information that come through the system. Can you please send me a private conversation via Kickstarter (hit the envelope icon above) so I can see what pledge level you are at and we can get you squared away.
Hi Hilary,
I am afraid I've not yet received my book. I backed the project but never received any information regarding the books being mailed - and I didn't have an opportunity to even offer my mailing address.

Thanks so much Hilary - can't wait to see my niece's face when I give her the mystery box with Elephabet goodies tomorrow! I posted some pics at http://flic.kr/s/aHsjxPF3r4 (not the best quality as they are only from my phone). Beautiful!
Thanks everyone for the reports that books have arrived! (Especially my overseas backers!) Happy holidays everyone!!
Book and buttons here. Really cute book. Nicely done!!!!!
Got my book and buttons! I am very excited. I left a review on Amazon and I'm telling all my friends about this delightful book. Great job. Thanks so much.
That's great news Hilary! Lana can't wait. :)
Hi everyone! I have officially just completed the books and they are being printed, so I am moving on to do the animation. I need to complete this before I can let people pick their pieces, so sit tight! Hopefully it will happen in the middle of the month! Thanks everyone for the support and sweet comments!
I was wondering when those of us whose pledge included an original elephant from the project will get to choose their elephant? How will that process work.
I saw one I liked in the updates and am hoping I will be able to get it before anyone else.
Love all the updates and especially the school visit. Nothing like getting kids interested in art at an early age.
Hi Hillary. Just watched your video with Kiri. Good job. Now I am more excited than ever to see the book and the movie. Thank you for the tour of your studio.
Cheers,
Debbie Doodles
The elephants are soooo cute! And, on top of that, elephants are one of my favorite animals - I have a collection in various media (including opium weights from Thailand). It is going to be sooo hard for me to decide which one(s) to buy. I'm glad that I'll be getting the book so that I at least have a picture of them all.
I can't wait to get my book! I'm also tempted to order an elephant from your Etsy site! they're too cute!
This project is so much fun!! I love this...the creativity, the design...just great.
wonderful....thanks...Ann
Awww...that's so sweet! Thanks Yannick for the message.
Thanks to Kickstarter's newsletter I found your project. That is such a cute and clever idea. My daughter is already in love with these wonderful elephants, especially the sushi one :)
Yes--I've actually been in the rotation for the past week as far as I can tell. It changes the group up with each refreshing, except for the project of the day. I think the ones that rotate through the home page are the ones that are selected to be noteworthy by Kickstarter, so I'm honored to be in that group! (and thanks so much for the thoughtful message!)
You made the front page of KickStarter!
Thank you so much for reminding me, AND for backing the project! You are probably cringing at my sloppy graphics work on the fake cover of the book--I whipped that together thinking it would just flash by the screen! Ha ha! Anyhow, I will definitely keep you in mind, especially if there's room in the budget. At this point, it looks like I might surpass my goal, thanks to folks like you! (cue elephant trumpeting sound!)
Love you work Hilary! My husband and I had your elephants on our wedding cake and they now sit proudly on our mantle. So excited for the book. Let me know if you need any graphic design help!
