Easy-to-build
All of the Desktop Gremlins follow a very special set of rules. Simple! Fast! Fun! No glue, no tape, no knives required – just scissors and about 15 minutes of free time. All of the pages have a perforation near the spine so you can easily remove them from the book. Each of the Desktop Gremlins are introduced with an awesome pin-up poster that you can hang on your wall as well as a separate two-sided character construction sheet. The papercraft character pieces themselves can be cut out simply using scissors. The papercraft assembly is performed magically by sliding color-coded slots into each other.
A Legend is Born
Wondrous, mysterious and zany – each of the Desktop Gremlins are original characters with legendary background stories and fantastic reasons to be sitting on your desk. It's a ton of fun to build and display your Desktop Gremlins, but they become extra special after you learn their full story. You'll definitely enjoy sharing these tales of wonder with your friends and co-workers when they see these characters guarding your desk.
For example, here is one of my favorite Desktop Gremlins Legends: Centuries ago, when villagers celebrated a birthday, magicians learned a spell that transformed well-wishes and happy thoughts into a magical candle-carrying gremlin called a Tooyu. If captured, the Tooyu would grant a wish to whomever doused its flame. As years passed, Tooyu appearances became more rare, but people remembered the creature by baking a sweet cake treat to honor its power. It is hoped when you sing “Happy Birthday,” a Tooyu might make its return.
Fun for Everyone
I'm an artist who actively looks back on his youth, and because of this, I have always made sure that the Desktop Gremlins experience is appropriate for all ages. Desktop Gremlins are cool enough that you'll want to show them off at the office, hip enough that you'll want to share them with friends at school, and heartwarming enough that you'll want to display them in your home.
Educational Value

Since day one, a book has always been a crucial component of this Desktop Gremlins project and I'm working passionately to make it a reality. I am a graphic designer and artist who creates books, magazines and advertising for a living, so I have poured all those skills into the creation of this volume of work. It is so rewarding to see the final printer-ready pages take shape and I can't wait to share them with you in book form.
The real challenge at this point in the game will be fulfillment. Once this book is (hopefully) funded, I'll be moving from my career strengths of concept and design into the world of distribution. This will be new to me and I'll be working hard to make sure that fulfillment is completed on time. This will require great organizational skills since this campaign and product is a one-man-show.
