Our Goal:

Anser Gear was started with the goal to bring Aerogel insulation to outdoor products and apparel.  We started with the most technically advanced shell made from the best waterproof materials utilizing advanced sewing techniques and seam sealing. The technical outer shell has all of the advanced features that are currently offered on the market e.g. detachable hood, armpit zippers, multiple gear pockets, adjustable cuffs, weatherproof zippers, and athletic fit. 

The shell is then insulated with Aerogel to provide superior warmth.  The Aerogel pad is 3 to 4 mm thick and laminated into shell with a thin liner. The result is a highly technical jacket that also provides unique insulation.   Aerogel is the world's lightest solid material, composed of up  to 99.98% air by volume.  Aerogel also exhibits the lowest thermal conductivity of any solid known. It is hydrophobic and repels water naturally, and most importantly it maintains its insulating properties when compressed.

There are currently two main types of insulation being used in outdoor apparel, goose down and synthetic fibers.  Goose down has great weight to warmth ratio but must be dry and requires loft to insulate effectively.  Synthetic fibers also require loft to insulate however it can provide insulation when wet, but has increased weight. Aerogel is a phenomenal insulation that excels in locations that are commonly under compression.

Where we're at:

We currently have working prototypes that are market ready.  The problem is we only have a few.  This Kickstarter will help us raise enough capital through preorders to allow us to get our product to you.  We currently have all the manufacturing in place and all design issues resolved.  The money raised will be put directly into the production and shipping the jackets.  With a successful Kickstarter we plan to immediately began production.  Our goal is to have people in Anser gear this winter.  Depending on the success of this project and number of jackets ordered will determine the best shipping method and delivery times.  Our manufacturers are standing by and ready to start as soon as possible.    

Where we go next:

We are currently at a very exciting tipping point for Anser Gear.  We have proven that Aerogel can be used in outdoor apparel and have resolved the design and manufacturing issues.  If this project is successful we would love to launch  other Aerogel insulated gear like as pants.
