We help Great New Metal (GNM) bands succeed by
creating a buzz around up and coming acts, growing their audience, and helping
them to monetize that new fan base by selling a single exclusive licensed
signature GNM t-shirt. Unlike so much of
what’s on the metal web, GNM is not a place for haters because we only focus on
great music from across all sub-genres so there's something for every metal
taste.
Our featured writers, we call them “authorities”, create their own brands of
metal based on the types of bands they recommend. Every month each
of the eight authorities names a Featured “Seal of Approval Winner (SOAW)” During
that month, we produce daily updated content covering the SOAW as if its’
members were already celebrities. Each story includes an opportunity for fans
to buy merchandise through our partnership with IndieMerch, one of the largest
music merchandising companies in the world.
In return the SOAW grants us a single exclusive license to produce a band t-shirt. Our signature designers work with the band to
create a unique shirt with compelling art.
Since it’s an exclusive licensed design we’re not competing with
the band or label’s own merchandising efforts. We send checks to
bands and never ask them for any money in return. We are also open to negotiating sales of a
band’s existing inventory on an affiliate fee basis.

Merchandising is the last
dependable revenue source for up and coming bands who can’t yet demand high
concert guarantees. The passion that
metal fans show for wearing t-shirts from their favorite bands makes this small
part of the music industry a perfect test case for the Great New concept which
we eventually see expanding into other genres like hip-hop, country, and pop
music.
In summary, we believe there are more great bands making more great music now
than ever in an environment where it has become increasingly difficult to survive. We
believe we can help great artists succeed and thrive when we create a buzz
around these musicians and their music and use that buzz to generate a revenue

Unfortunately I can't offer that right now. Once we launch, we will be producing eight signature exclusive designs every month for each of eight different Seal of Approval winning bands These will range across all metal subgenres from Black Metal to Djent and Prog. Until we get written contracts from those bands, I can't commit to you what they will be. I can guarantee these will be professionally designed shirts from some of the top names in the metal shirt business with production and fulfillment from one of the biggest names in the rock and roll merchandising business. You will have your choice from any of these shirts based on your level of donation.
