About this project
Gospel of Judas an opera being composed by Jeffrey Rukaman is deep in creative phase right now.
Based upon the ancient Coptic manuscripts (The Gospel of Judas) recently discovered and translated by the National Geographic and other sources (an epic adventure in itself), Gospel of Judas focuses on the man, despised for 2000 years.
Traitor, scapegoat, any number of derogative names have been assigned to this pivotal character in world history. From the manuscript we learn that the seminal betrayal was a request by Jesus of Judas to help rid him of his mortal flesh.
We need to make a demo video of the opera so that we may more effectively communicate the feel of the work; the textures of music and text and the taste of the production.
The scenes and musical choices are chosen, but with very limited funds, the time it will take to make just THIS piece would be damaging to our timeline of having the opera up and running by Spring 2012.
The premiere will be in Kansas City, but we are aiming to take the production to other cities.
With the production group we are working with, namely Quixotic performance Fusion, our production can be done on a good community opera sized budget, but be performed as a major opera.
This video is the next step. There is no moving forward without it.
There are grants available. We've applied for some, but they need work samples actually FROM the opera, a video and sound are crucial. These cost money to produce.
Each step we take, we come closer to bringing you the talent of composer Jeffrey Rukaman, on a grand scale.
Budget
500 - fee for orchestration of sampled work
700 - fee for recording orchestra samples
700 - video recording
600 - post production video and sound
Total 2500
These are absolute minimums.
With this we can pay the people who need to get paid and beg from our amazingly talented friends to help out. We could always use more to be able to offer a little more to our friends and even put more money into the production costs of this phase of the project.

The Jeffrey Rukaman Mr. Goodcents Quick Lunch. --- (this was Jeffrey's idea! LOL) ----- Take Jeffrey and Nathan out to a quick lunch at Mr. Goodcents! So we can talk to you briefly about how cool the opera is and tell you the synopsis, giving you an in person description of the story. We will be doing this as we all stuff our faces with fresh made sandwiches and fountain drinks. We may ask if you have any questions and if you may want to be more involved with the project...you know, kind of like a time share, only much less pushy and we'll tell you about it in advance. You can always say no. It's all good. *we are neither affiliated nor backed by Mr. Goodcents at this time. I thought it'd be nice to patronize a great KC business...and the whole exchange of coin thing crossed my mind.
