Update #4: All prizes ready to go!
Update #3: treats are coming!
Update #2: Images from installing MMMM....
hello everyone
I just created another post about the installation in NYC for the 'Mater Matrix Mother and Medium" blog at http://matermatrixmother.wordpress.com/2011/10/06/installing-mmmm-in-nyc/.
I am noticing, and am really grateful, that many of the names of people who have pledged to this project are people who I don't recognize from the MMMM facebook page or my mailing list. I feel really honored that you would back this project, I love that about Kickstarter...the ability to find new and earnest efforts out there of people doing their best to do good in the world. If you are unfamiliar with the project, beyond my description here, I hope you'll take a look at the blog, which documents the entire process of making the piece from its beginning in 2009. Thank you!!! http://matermatrixmother.wordpress.com
Update #1: Getting ready to head to NYC...NEPO 5k Community Crochet event
Wow, I am so overwhelmed by the support from everyone who has pledged, thank you so so much. It is awkward asking for money...it has left me with some uneasy inner voices ...."if the work can't pay for itself, do I really deserve to do it..." It's unproductive....but at the same time I know there are a billion worthy things you could have given your money to, and I know your support is a privilege. Thank you. I believe in what I do and what I try to put out in the world, I really try to create moments where people can see power and beauty in the stories we have told about being human as long a we have been recording stories. And my husband, artist Paul Margolis has always been my biggest supporter and cheerleader, even when it has been risky for our family financially. We hit a snag, this project stretched us beyond our safety net, and I am trying to do whatever I can to relieve some of the stress. Now that we are home from NYC, the installation is up and really stunning, I know it was so important to take this work to the symposium at The Cathedral St. John the Divine. I feel like everyone who ever stopped to work with me on the piece, their efforts were honored by putting it up in the Cathedral. So thanks for helping me to make that happen.
The project is still just 61% funded with 9 days to go. I'm trying to do whatever I can to get the word out. Many of you have posted on Facebook, thank you! If you have a blog and it seems appropriate, would you consider posting about it. I just read on another Kickstarter project that I have donated to this little bit of advice, and I hope you might consider doing this also : "Also, just by clicking "Like" on the project page or passing it on to other people who will watch the project video also helps. If enough people click the project will be featured in the "popular this week" section in Film and eventually on the main discovery page, which gives the film more visibility". I guess that's how it work....
Anyhow, thanks for what you have done. And here is a recent post as I track the project as it got ready to go to NYC! On Sept. 10th, the NEPO 5k hosted MMMM for a Community Crochet event to create the ropes needed for the installation. Read more about it here:
