Len Peralta's Geek A Week returns for a third season, this time with a nod to all things videogames. A brand new set with epic rewards!

What is Geek A Week?
In 2010, I started an online art project called Geek A Week. The goal was to connect with 52 influential geeks from different disciplines - science, music, art, etc. - and draw them as a neat little trading card portrait.
With the help of Storm DiCostanzo of the musical comedy duo Paul and Storm, who wrote the cardbacks of each and every card, I was not only able to complete the year long project, but I was able to garner the attention of some major news outlets. The 52 card deck included the likes of geek luminaries such as musician "Weird Al" Yankovic, comic book legend Stan Lee, founding Apple programmer Steve "Woz" Wozniak, acclaimed author Neil Gaiman and film director Kevin Smith, just to name a few.
(PS: You can pick up the first and second season sets at ThinkGeek.)
Last year, I was able to create and fund the second season of my Geek A Week project on Kickstarter. The successful funding of that project gave me the confidence to do a third season of Geek A Week. But instead of doing an open-ended "everygeek" sort of deck, I've decided to narrow the focus of the set to one of my personal interests: video gaming.
Since the beginning of Februrary, I've been releasing the trading card art and podcast of a different video game geek. Now, I am looking to fund the production of the deck through the help of you and Kickstarter.
What Am I Getting?
You are pre-ordering the 15 card Geek A Week: Legends of Videogames trading card set. You can choose a regular card set or an autographed card set that will one day (hopefully) grow exponentially in value.

In the base 15 card set are some of the most interesting names in video games including:
Cliff Bleszinski (Epic Games)
Dan Paladin (The Behemoth)
Gabe Newell (Valve)
Leigh Alexander (Gamasutra/Kotaku)
Stephen Toulouse (Former Banhammer for XBOX Live)
Chris Metzen (Blizzard)
Alex Rigopulous (Harmonix)
Jade Raymond (Ubisoft Toronto)
Rooster Teeth (Machinima Heroes)
Robert Bowling (robotoki)
Notch (Mojang)
Ken Levine (Irrational Games)
Tim Schafer (Double Fine)
Lauren Berggren (Hardcore Female Gamer)
Jessica Chobot (G4/IGN)
Backers at the $45 level and above automatically get the two Bonus Cards in the deck:
Nolan North (VO Actor)
Ron Gilbert (Game Developer - Lucasarts/Humongous/Double Fine)
There are also some pretty cool reward levels that include unique items from most of the companies I was able to connect with for this project. This includes:
T-Shirts
Signed Video Games
Posters
Gear and More!
Seriously, just check out the pics of some of the stuff...and not everything is pictured here! If you're a gamer, it's like you've died and gone to gaming heaven!

Here are some screenshots of the posters from the Irrational Reward level. They are from the upcoming game Bioshock Infinite. These posters are also in the MONDO GAMING REWARD and come signed by the artist, Nate Wells.

And just for good measure, here's a shot of the exclusive 18 x 24 Tim Schaefer Geek A Week poster:

Here is an actual quote from Tim about his trading card art and poster:
"Awesome!! I’m going to have this printed on my tombstone."
You can also choose the highest level reward and actually become a Legend of your own. At this level, you'll get your own custom drawn Geek A Week Legends of Videogame card complete with a custom written card back. They pretty much make the most awesome business cards - EVER.
Why Should I Fund This Project?
Geek A Week is a HUGE undertaking - much more than just a run-of-the-mill art project. That's because it is so much more than just art. The process involves getting in touch with the potential subject, interviewing them and then finally drawing them and getting their cardback written. This involves hundreds of e-mails and phone calls not to mention scheduling and approvals - let alone drawing and painting of all the art. It's a huge time commitment to create this pretty awesome slice of geek culture.
In addition to this, I'd like to get Storm compensated for his work. He's written most of the cardbacks for the trading cards and his writing abilities are bar none.
I feel that it's the additional time I put into it that makes Geek A Week so much more special than any other art project out there. And at the end of the day, you'll get some cool original art, a set of some limited edition trading cards and the feeling of knowing that you supported an artist who loves doing what they do.
The success of this project depends on your support and your word of mouth. So please share this project on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, text messages - however you get the word out and tell your friends and family to donate to help fund Season three of my project.
Thank you for reading my pitch. I hope you choose to support this and help me create a new card set of Geek A Weekers.

If you back the VIDEO GAME GEEK, LEGENDARY GEEK or GEEK L337 reward, you will not be added to the actual site. However, if you check out this Flickr set and look at the Geek A Week cards I did for fulfillment, you'll see the card design you get is exactly the same as the regular Geek A Week cards:
