I began making candies, cookies, and other confections as a child with the guidance and knowledge of my mother Debra - she has herself been making candy since childhood.  After many years of making quality confections for friends, family, colleagues, parties, and other events, I am now turning my homegrown talent into a very small somewhat artisanal - yet very old-fashioned - candy business!

Motivation for Starting my Business

In addition to pleasing  customers, one of the primary goals of Spindler Confections is to provide high quality hand made old-fashioned candies at a reasonable price, and on a small scale.  I am a huge fan of exceptional old-fashioned traditional treats such as caramels, nougats, fudges, nut clusters, and pecan logs.  From my perspective, it has become increasingly difficult to find affordable great tasting confections, especially ones that aren't filled with preservatives, or made on huge factory equipment.

Spindler Confections provides small batch, high quality, exceptional candies that are affordable, fresh, and hand crafted.  I can achievable this through maintaining a low overhead, building a strong return customer base, and simple (but effective) packaging methods.

In addition to direct sales of individual boxes, I also plan on offering large packages for special events, and custom favors for parties and receptions (wedding, baby, birthday, anniversary, etc).

If I surpass my goal, I plan on taking some courses at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts to learn more about traditional techniques of candy making and the science behind sugar.  I also intend to experiment with developing some new products.
