I wanted to let you know what is going on with the Hexels.  We got an email from the manufacturer this week informing us that all 80K+ Hexels were finally injection molded.  However, that email also informed us that they believe the Hexel bodies to be too "fragile" and that we may need to remake ALL of them.  Since the molds are pretty well dialed in, remaking the 80K+ pieces would only take one extra week.

We are still trying to figure out exactly what "fragile" means in this context.  If a fully grown adult stepping on them will break them, then I don't think it is an issue and we can move on, but if it means many of the pieces will break in shipping then it's an issue we need to address.  Either way, worst case should be adding an extra week to our current timeline.

Some awesome news, ~30,000 of the ~80,000 Hexels have been molded!

Hey Kickstarters,

In this week's update I've got some new samples to show you.  There was a slight, but very important change made to the molds that create the large hexagonal pieces, which I explain in the video.

It was a little hard to show the detail of the piece in the video, but I've included a few photos here to help illustrate the difference.  The piece on top is the new sample, and the piece on the bottom is the old sample.

Currently waiting on a reply from the manufacturer for updated production timelines.

I hope you are all having an awesome Friday.  Not much to report on the Hexels this week. Still clipping along and waiting.
