Going to make going to make a Doctor Who student film about the Time War, which will fill in the gaps between the old show & new show.
In November 2011, Jeremy Chretien, a film student at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska, told his sister Elisabeth, a writer and editor, that he wanted to make a Doctor Who film.
Both Jeremy and Elisabeth were raised on the old Doctor Who show that aired late on Saturday nights on public television. Our parents were long-time fans of the show, and we even attended Doctor Who conventions as preschoolers. As adults, we were excited when Doctor Who came back on the air with new episodes, new adventures, and new enemies.
But what particularly intrigued us was what was missing--what happened between the old show of our late-night PBS childhood and the new show with its special effects and darker Doctor. The Time War appears to be the large, dramatic hole that connects these two eras. The Time War has been hinted at, spoken of, and even shown in small bits and pieces in the new show, and further hints about it lie strew throughout various novels, comics, and audio dramas.
As Jeremy and Elisabeth talked about what would make a good Doctor Who film, we soon realized that we wanted to tell the missing story of The Time War.
As a film student, Jeremy has access to all of the technology to make this movie. Elisabeth and Jeremy are writing the script. We even have the possibility of having an original score composed by a friend who is a music composition student.
What we don't have is the capital to create costumes, sets, and props. We are making a TARDIS, Daleks, Time Lord robes, the TARDIS consul, and various other props and backdrops.
If you want to see a feature-length production of The Time War, created by lifelong fans with a passion for the show, please consider investing in this project up-front!
If we meet our fund-raising goal, we will be able to purchase all of the materials needed to make this project a physical reality!
Anything raised above and beyond our expected budget will go toward additional out-of-pocket costs such as transportation, make-up effects, and additional costuming.
What happens if we don’t meet our goal? Nothing. You don't get charged any money, and we will have to make a lower-budget film.
Thank you for partnering with us to make this exciting project possible!
Below is a trailer I made for the film using footage from the Doctor Who TV show.
