Update #5: New reward: A CD of my music

Posted on January 26

Hi everyone,

We have come so far!  I can't thank you enough for your generous support -- I am so grateful for all that you have done to help me make this project a reality.  We still have almost $1,500 to raise and just under three weeks to do it!  So I am adding a new reward: anyone who pledges at the $50 (or above) level will get a CD of my music.

Many of you have heard some of my music since I've posted videos with short excerpts...now you can hear the whole pieces!  Just a couple of the works on the CD:

1. Piercing the veil of kindness for flute doubling on bass flute and piccolo and tape performed by the fabulous flutist Daria Binkowski.

2. Wildfire for orchestra -- this is the piece that the Seattle Symphony is reading through at their rehearsal this coming Tuesday!! (The recording on the CD will be an excellent performance by the University of Michigan Philharmonia orchestra)

3. Other works TBD, but may include a work for oboe d'amore and found percussion instruments performed by the amazing oboist Diana Dunn, or a piece which I wrote for my husband, made entirely from cooking sounds!

Many thanks again for all that you have done to make this project a reality.  We are in the homestretch!

With so much gratitude,

Abby

Update #3: An exciting way to ring in the new year...

Posted on January 5

Happy new year everyone!

I'm very excited to share that within the past couple of days we reached 50% of the $8,000 goal.  Thanks to your support, this project is getting closer and closer to coming to life!

A few quick updates:

-I've added two new reward levels: $18 and $180.  For $18 you get everything in the $10 category and a second poster.   For $180 you get everything in the $100 category and a set of postcards with photos/sketches from the project.

-I've been field testing the first ringtone: rain sounds I recorded in the Arboretum.  It's soft, but works nicely in many environments.  I've enjoyed it so far and I hope you will too!  I will follow up over the weekend with a link and instructions for downloading the ringtone for those who are interested.

-I will be sending the link for the blog very soon to all backers who selected this reward.

I can't thank you all of you enough for your support.  I am so grateful for all that you have done to get the project this far along.  Your generosity is truly awesome.

As we start out the new year, if you know of anyone at all who you think would be interested in this project, please pass it along!  I can't wait to share all of the beautiful and amazing sounds hidden in the Arboretum!

Thank you again!
Abby
