We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on May 19, 2012.

Soundlazer production has finally started.

Update #10 · Sep 15, 2012 · 21 comments

I received the fully finished Soundlazer off of the assembly line today for evaluation and approval.  Everything works perfectly and I will be going into full production over the next few weeks.

Please keep in mind that this is a small production run (IE: Kickstarter Project) which means that I will be personally programming and testing each unit individually before shipping.   While everything has gotten my final approval, the remaining cases are still at the anodizers and the boards are coming off the assembly line a bit slower than planned.  As batches become available, I will be sending out surveys at the various levels.  Be sure to fill out your shipping info as soon as it hits your email box.

Thank you once again for joining me on this fun project.  I hope you enjoy experimenting with your Soundlazer when you receive it.

Some things are worth the wait!

Update #8 · Aug 8, 2012 · 12 comments

I know some of you have been wondering what I have been up to with Soundlazer.

It's been a long road but I am happy to say, that the first boards for approval have come off the assembly line and everything has tested to work perfectly.  I will be signing off on the production run and both blank and propagated boards should start arriving soon.

I have added a few features to the Soundlazer based on backer feedback.  These include:

1) High / low power jumper for testing and extended listening.

2) Auto power off so that no ultrasonic energy is emitted unless there is an audio signal present.

3) Test tone output

4) Improved digital amplifier with more effiecint design.

Here is a picture of the final board.

I expect to receive the blank boards that backers ordered first so I will be sending out the surveys for those people very soon.   Be sure to fill out all the information so I can get the boards to you quickly.

Thank you to everyone once again for backing the Soundlazer project.

Schematic and Blank Boards

Update #7 · Jul 2, 2012 · 4 comments

Although I have posted this before, I wanted to make sure everybody is up to date on the progress of Soundlazer.

The schematic is finished and a few test boards have been ordered.  Once we test these boards and confirm they work, I will be posting the bill of materials and schematic on the website.  Backers who ordered blank boards will begin receiving them shortly after that.

Most of the parts have arrived and we are waiting for a few small items.

Assembled Kits should begin shipping by the beginning of August if all stays on schedule.  Complete units, with cases will ship after that.

Delivery of Soundlazer Boards, Kits and full units.

Update #6 · Jun 4, 2012 · 3 comments

I have been getting emails asking me when Soundlazers will start shipping so I wanted to let everyone know the timeline I am trying to stick to.

We have just finalized the manufactured version of the schematic and will begin final board and component layout over the next 2 weeks.  I should have a working production test unit by the end of June.

Once the production test unit is approved, it should only take a week or two to build all the boards.  Once we have working boards, firmware needs to be loaded and each needs to be calibrated.  This will take a few weeks.  I expect to start shipping units to backers no earlier than the third week in July.

In the meantime, the aluminum cases, audio cables, power adapters and all other components are on order and should be arriving soon.

I will be updating everyone as we progress.  Please check soundlazer.com from time to time for the schematics, drawings and other information as it becomes available.
