Hello Lovely Backers!

HUGE HUGE Apologies for the unbelievably long time since our last update. It has been a very long and hard process up till now with many speed bumps and hurdles along the way. The biggest lesson I have learnt from this experience is that it is actually relatively easy to pick up a camera and shoot a crazy skateboarding prodigy kid for 3 years of your life, compared to the insanely daunting and enormous undertaking of the Post Production stage! So after 3 years of shooting and one year overlap of post production, 200 hours of footage, and 300 gallons of blood sweat and tears...We are now finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The film is now at the fine cut phase and this phase will be completed in roughly 1 month. After that it will be sent to Technicolor in Toronto for the final colour timing, sound mix, and all the other sparkles and polish that will make it fantastic!

As many of you probably know, the festival season is in full swing and we have jumped on that train with great enthusiasm. Even though we have not yet locked a final cut of the film, most festivals around the world will accept rough cuts and make a judgement based on that. We submitted the film to The RainDance Film Festival in London, UK and I am proud to say that we got in!!!! A great start to the festival trail :):)

We will be entering many other festivals internationally and will keep you on track of our progress. Fingers crossed for many more!

Once the film has been completed we will then be able to honour our promise to you all, and complete the pledge prizes for each category of the pledges that were so generously given by all of you. Thank you all so much for your patience with this. I know it has been overdue for quite some time, but we will get it done. I promise!

Anyway, thats all for now. We are all working away furiously and I will be posting more updates as news comes in.

Hello Lovely Backers!

Huge apologies for the lack of updates in the last few months, but we have been working tirelessly on the editing and the post production phase. In my last update several months ago I was working with a young editor who I think became very overwhelmed by the amount of footage and how much work it was actually going to require. We came to the realization that it was probably not a good idea to continue and that I needed to look for an editor with much more experience who could handle something of this magnitude. I sent out an SOS to all of my contacts (including most of you on this list!) and I got an overwhelming amount of responses. We finally had an angel appear in the form of Michael John Bateman, a seasoned editor with many years of experience, who heard of our situation and wanted to help. He knew we had a limited amount of funding but loved the project and has been an absolute saviour for us. Now after working with him for the last few months, we have a fantastic film which is still in rough form but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Last Thursday, after several months of crazy days, we finally sent off our submission via FedEx to The Sundance Film Festival! The dream goal we have been working towards from the very beginning. Sundance does not require the film to be a finished version, in fact most applications are in rough form and they encourage applicants to do so on a yearly basis. So now while we finish the film and put it into its finest most polished form, we wait with fingers crossed to hear the results. We will not be notified until the first week in December, so we would love for all of you to keep your fingers very tightly crossed till then please!

Also, a few of you have asked about the gifts for the backers and when they will be ready. I just wanted to assure everyone that we will be sending your gifts as per the pledge category you were in, once the film has been completed. Originally I had set this date to be at the end of September, but I think realistically we will need another 6 - 8 weeks. I do apologize for this delay, but if we complete the film any sooner I will send the gifts out as soon as physically possible. I really appreciate your patience and understanding on this.

LATEST NEWS ABOUT THE PROJECT...

Hello Lovely Backers!

Huge apologies for the delay on keeping you posted on our project! Things have been crazy busy for us and have no indication of slowing down, as we have relocated the post production phase of the project to Toronto. In my last update I told you guys about Andres our editor extraordinaire, who I will be one of our partners in crime in editing the documentary. We officially start the edit, here in Toronto, on Monday March 5th and are looking to have a working cut by the beginning of June. We have also had some generous productions come forward and offer us complimentary services to finish off the movie with a sparkle, such as colour timing and graphics! We are super excited to finally get into the post production phase and it is all thanks to you guys!! Once again I owe you all a huge debt of gratitude for making this dream come true...

LATEST NEWS ABOUT ASHER...

Three weeks ago we followed Asher to the biggest contest that the North American skate scene has to offer...The Vans AM contest down in Orange County, California. The contest featured the best of the best from across North America spanning two categories: The Over 15's and the under 15's. Asher was the youngest competitor by 5 years, competing in the under 15's, and came 18th out of 38! Not bad for an eight year old :) We are all so happy for Asher and his family, who by the way were gushing with pride!

Anyway, that's all for now but I will keep you guys updated through out the post production process.
