About this project
PURE Reflections: Beauty Re-Imagined is a theatrical dance drama exploring body image, self-love and the struggle to come to terms with media-driven beauty standards.
Developed in 2009 by the members of PURE-NYC, a multi-level collective of dancers and musicians who strive to bring change, beauty, and awareness to the world through ancient and modern world dance, PURE Reflections has been performed with different casts of over 25 dancers in New York City, Connecticut, Japan and is heading to Taiwan and Florida in the Fall.
Our current goal is to raise a minimum of $2500 - $3000 in order to bring our assistant director (Pacita Prasarn) and one of the principal dancers (Lale Sayoko) to Taiwan where the show will be recreated with the members of PURE Taipei in September. Lale and Pacita will also help facilitate the personal growth workshop series essential to the show's rehearsal process, through which women of all levels of dance and all walks of life explore pathways to self acceptance, balance and loving their uniqueness.

Pacita Prasarn has always danced. Always. But it wasn’t until around 1996 that her dancing found a voice and language in the form of Middle Eastern Belly Dance. Since then she has been learning, teaching, and performing all in pursuit of perfecting her art. She draws influences from many cultures and genres (Indian, Persian, Egyptian, Turkish, Hip Hop, Modern, and more) and fuses them in an attempt to explore the most important aspects of all dance; the Soul and Humanity.
