UPDATE from Europe!
Hello, my backers.
DanceWeb Scholarship Program has come to an end at ImPulsTanz, the international dance and performance festival in Vienna, Austria. 67 danceWeb participants lived in a same boarding school for 5 weeks, experienced chosen workshops everyday and saw performances almost everyday. I feel privileged and honored to be surrounded by amazingly talented and charismatic dancers and artists this summer. After taking 5 workshops (2-3 hours M-F), 3 CoachingProject (6 hours M-F) and 2 intensive workshops (6 hours Sat & Sun) as well as seeing 35 performances in this short period of time, I carry this mixture feeling of excitement, confidence and exhaustion that I have never experienced before.
I could not have done this without your support, and I truly appreciate your support for this once-in-a-lifetime experience you made it possible for me. Thank you, again, for your support and your love.
It turned out that it costs 1 euro and 70 cents (about $2) to send each postcard from Austria to overseas, which unfortunately exceeds my budget for this summer. However, I have been taking photographs in vienna for each of the supporters who gave me address. I will print them up and send them to you with a note when I get back in the states. If you prefer email, let me know. I can do that as well.
Although it was sad to leave this intense experience (very addicting, i must say), I am very excited to come back to my second year of graduate school in Portland to further explore my performance and sculptural practice. Also, I'm thrilled to be participating in a premier of Keith Hennessy's new work TURBULENCE as well as presenting a small solo piece as a part of Ten Tiny Dances at PICA's TBA festival this September. If you're in Portland, it would be an honor if you could witness one or both of those pieces.
I hope you're having a beautiful time for the rest of summer.
Loves and cheers.
