THE PROJECT
From the dream I shared with every 90's kid to become a teenager with attitude under Zondon's command, to the chances I took in order to get the rangers themselves to ask my date to the prom, Power Rangers has continued to make an impact on my life in more ways than one, and is the very reason I became interested in the subject of film.
Now in college and pursuing my goal of becoming a filmmaker, Power Rangers continues to be an inspiration of mine, as it always has been. But Power Rangers has never been a show that inspired me alone. From the halls of Power Morphicon, a unique setting where fans come to bring childhood fantasies to life, to rangerboard.com, the largest online community of Power Ranger fans from around the globe, the impact of Power Rangers continues to be seen.
Since 1993, Power Rangers has held a place in the hearts of millions of individuals. Whether it be by wearing a t-shirt with the image of their childhood hero, or by spending hundreds of dollars just in the pursuit of dressing up as their favorite ranger and taking a stroll around town, fans around the world continue to show their passion in ways unique to the Power Ranger community.
Titled 335: A Nation of Rangers, the goal of this project is to give a glimpse into the world that is the Power Ranger fan base. This documentary will not be about how Power Rangers came to be, or the themes explored within the show. This documentary will be about the people, the fans, along with the actors, the passion they hold in their hearts for the series, the childhood memories they adore, and even after nearly 20 years, the dreams and fantasies that continue to give it life.
I can't promise you a Stephen Spielberg production, but I can promise you one thing, and that is to do the series justice, as only a fan of the show could.
WHERE THE MONEY WILL GO
335: A Nation of Rangers is set to be a 30 minute short film. Filming will begin in mid august in and around the areas of Houston, Texas and Los Angeles, California. Your money will go directly to production costs.
- Camera and lighting equipment.
- Transportation to filming locations.
- Film/production crew.
- Room and board for crew.
- Post-production editing.
I am a firm believer in that idea that if someone does something nice for you, you should, in return, do something nice as well, which is why any money raised over the original goal of $6,500 that does not go into production costs will be used to help fund other projects here on Kickstarter.
PROJECT TIMELINE
Once funded, the film itself should take only about four weeks to complete.
Week One - The first week will consist of the pre production process, finishing the final draft of the script, ordering equipment, scheduling interviews, and making travel preparations.
Week Two - Once pre-production is completed, principle photography will begin with the first round of Power Ranger fans in Houston, Texas.
Week Three - Filming will move to Los Angeles, California where the majority of interviews will be completed including fans and actors from the series.
Week Four - After principle photography has been completed, post production will move back to Houston, Texas where the final editing will take place.

WHY WE BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE MADE
A story such as the one which will be told on this documentary spans across generations. Whether you were a kid growing up in the 90's, playing Power Rangers and fighting over who was going to be the red ranger, or have a child of your own who is just discovering the newest incarnation of of this beloved show, as stated earlier, the Power Ranger franchise holds a place in the hearts of millions of individuals. We firmly believe that a project such as this one should be made by someone who will put their heart, soul, and passion into the project, which is exactly what we intend to do. The goal of this project is to make a documentary that can be enjoyed by Power Ranger fans of all ages.
