We will create a 95’ long and 22’ 5” tall wall drawing in the Ramp Project Space of the UICA during the ArtPrize® festival.
Starting 11 days before the opening of the ArtPrize® International Arts Festival, all 9 members of the Screwed Arts Collective will work nearly around the clock, converging their individual styles and aesthetics to create a 95’ long and 22’ 5” tall conversation in the Ramp Project Space of the UICA (Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts) in Grand Rapids, MI. The purpose of the wall drawing during ArtPrize® is to create a unique dialogue with the community of Grand Rapids while at the same time, exposing the process of how art is created to the masses.

Screwed Again (2010) - Regional Arts Commission, St. Louis, MO (installation view, left and center walls)
Thank you for visiting our Kickstarter page. The Screwed Arts Collective consists of artists Christopher Burch, Stan Chisholm, Daniel
Burnett, Kris Mosby, Daniel Jefferson, Jason Spencer, Justin Tolentino, Bryan
Walsh and photographer Christopher Harris. We started the Screwed Arts Collective to create
art that is engaging to the viewer and to create a dialogue about the subject(s)
of our work. We decided on the name “Screwed”
because of the process we use screwing boards to the wall before the creative process begins.
A brief history of the Screwed Arts Collective: In 2008, a group of St. Louis-based artists got together and decided that there needed to be a large-scale, collaborative art installation showing the community the importance of the languages used in creative cultures to communicate ideas, feelings, etc. Upon completion of the first installation at the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis (RAC), Screwed In (2008), the reception showed that our efforts did not go unnoticed. The success of this installation led to the second installation in 2010, appropriately titled Screwed Again. Again, we were met with open arms by RAC and had a terrific reception.
The creation of our installation is part dialogue and part performance. Part of our process is to engage the audience as much as possible to share in the process of our creation. In fact, we broadcasted our most recent installation process via Ustream. The dialogue will also continue on our Facebook page, by updating our progress through photography, video and commentary.
