Support the development of a new children's show about protecting our environment performing at Family Week in Provincetown, MA.
What we do...
The Think Theater Project develops plays with a focus on relevant social issues for young audiences.Theater offers a unique opportunity where participants can learn about actions and consequences, about others, and about themselves. The Think Theater Project strives to create a safe environment where children and adults can explore and discuss issues that spark critical thinking and dialogue. Our first original work, SuperBen!, by Philip Mutz (our resident playwright), tackles the prominent issue of bullying. SuperBen! premiered in Provincetown at Family Week 2010, a week dedicated to LGBT headed families, and has since performed for many schools in the tri-state area. A post play discussion enhances the conversations between actors and audience members. The focus of our next production is protecting our environment.
Our next move...
The Think Theater Project team is excited to return to Family Week this August where we will premier Leslie and Ben Save The World! by Philip Mutz. The play follows Leslie and Ben, who become environmental detectives when they discover that someone in their school is not recycling. Along the way, they meet a slew of zany suspects, learn practical ways to help save the planet, and (of course) have the time of their lives! This show will use live performance and video projection to establish a creative setting in which the audience will explore their individual impact on the earth. Now we need to rehearse and get this show on the road!
What we need...
We need your help to make this project happen! All funds will go towards the operating costs of our production which include rehearsal space in New York, all design elements of the show (costumes, props, sets), as well as travel and expenses for our staff for the week. Help Think Theater bring a powerful environmental message to our youth! Hope to see you there!
