Kickstarter

I am a performing songwriter from Rosendale, NY, USA.  I have been actively writing, performing, and touring for over 7 years.  In March 2011, the devastating tsunami and ensuing nuclear crisis in Japan touched me in such a way that I sat down to write a song almost immediately.  What resulted was "The Flood".  Like much of my work, its lyrics are multi-dimensional and can be interpreted on several different levels.  Here is a link to a live performance of the song on youtube:

Perhaps the most important questions to be gleaned from "The Flood" are these: what do we, as humans, learn about ourselves when we are tested, when we are thrown into crisis, when we are tried?  What will we do with this knowledge?  

The week I wrote the song, a person approached me who has dedicated his life to the promotion of peace and understanding.  He was struck by the music and presented me with an incredible opportunity to perform the song in Hiroshima, Japan in August 2011.  The performance is meant to take place in front of an international live and television audience at the commemorative ceremony of the atom bomb dropping. 

I traveled to Japan some years ago and have since felt a strong connection with the culture and people of this country.  I would be deeply honored and excited to return to Japan and reconnect with the culture by offering them this performance. 

In order to do this, I will need to raise money to go towards airfare and travel expenses.  This Kickstarter project has been created in order to help meet those expenses.  I would be grateful for any donation, big or small, that will help me return to Japan and perform "The Flood" at this ceremony.
