Samuel Klein, a recent college graduate, struggles with the disparity between what his life is and what he envisioned it being

We (Zach Buckner and Louis Blevins) have been working on Good Decisions for over a year. The film was inspired by a trip that Zach took to Boulder, Colorado last March. Zach was overwhelmed by the subculture he found there – one of dumpster divers, hippies and spiritualists. At the time, he found it difficult to relate to their lifestyle, but once he returned to Boston he saw how genuine and honest many of those people were. Instead of dwelling on the worries that overwhelm the average recent college graduate, they were more interested in the immediacy of life and the world around them. After discussing his experience for a time, we began developing a story that wove those lifestyles and ideologies back into the traditional world. While none of the characters are representations of the people Zach met in Boulder, the film does explore what it is to be member of that culture, and, more importantly, an entirely different understanding of what it is to be an adult.

Good Decisions follows, Samuel Klein, a recent college graduate who struggles to find satisfaction and fulfillment in his new life. As he contemplates leaving his job, he meets a young woman Charlie, who introduces him to a new perspective. As the two develop a friendship, Sam finds himself questioning his lifestyle and his understanding of adulthood.

Making a film is expensive. Although we’d like to believe it’s possible make a stunning feature on a handy-cam, it’s not possible in our situation. Film is a medium of random and hidden expenses. Your donations will insure actors and equipment, provide meals for the tireless cast and crew, cover transportation costs, secure locations and make your rewards.

You’d not only be giving the both of us the opportunity to actualize a project that we’ve been passionately working on for the past year, you’d also providing an amazing opportunity to all the members of the cast and crew. Independent features are rare, and the ability to work on something of this scope and caliber, is an amazing opportunity for everyone involved. This is the last time we’ll be able to attempt a project like this while in college.
We feel strongly about the questions this story asks. We’ve developed as individuals over the course of working on this film, and we hope that we can be apart of other people’s growth; not only those in college but everyone who also questioned if they too have made good decisions.
