My name is Lamar Stockton. I've been playing music since I can remember. I live in Austin, TX. I'm a doting husband, a proud father, a social activist & a musician. I believe artists have a distinct voice in society. They ask important questions and inspire us all to find answers. I am part of a growing community of artists who use our time & talent to serve our city. We teach music, photography & art workshops at the Austin Children's Shelter...we bring the arts to Boys & Girls Club after school programs & summer camps...we play free concerts for the homeless community...we do our best to be a renewing influence in our city.

I've been writing songs for a while now, but most of them never make it out of my living room. Even the good ones collect a lot of dust. I spend a good deal of my musical time next to a hi-hat stand, playing bass for other artists. I also try to do everything I can to help my friends, who's music I believe in, succeed.  Well, some of those friends have convinced me that it's time to dust off a few of my songs and put out an album.  So that's what I'm doing...this album is long overdue, and I can't wait for you to hear it!

The title of the album is "Tearin' At The Seams."  There's a lot tension in these songs. Tension between joy and sadness; purpose and confusion; hope and desperation. I'm recording this album because I need to...because I have something to communicate that I think just might be worth hearing.

The Mourning Doves are my band, but really they're my friends...and they are ridiculously good. Clint Simmons hits the drums; Brian Batch (formerly of Alpha Rev) plays the viola & violin; Brennen Leigh tears up the mandolin; Oscar Interiano plays lots of things with keys (real, not synthesized); and Jordan Whitmore sings real pretty. They make me sound way better than I should. We had the pleasure of recording at Ramble Creek Studios in Austin, TX with the incomparable Britton Beisenherz (Monahans). 

The songs are written. The band is assembled. In fact, we've already been hard at work in the studio. Now I just need a little funding to finish. That's where you come in! I need your help, and I want to invite to be a part of this project. I need to raise at least $3000 to offset the cost of studio time, mastering, and printing the album. Of course, the more you help me raise, the better product I can put out, and the better I can take care of the incredible musicians & artists who have been and will be a part of this project. And remember, if I don't raise at least $3000 then I don't get anything at all.
